Volleball Earns Two NESCAC Wins

The Middlebury women's volleyball team moved to 3-0 in NESCAC play with a pair of wins in Maine. On Friday night, the Panthers earned a 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12) win over Colby, before beating the host school of Bates on Saturday, 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14).

Jane Handel led a balanced attack on Friday night, earning 11 kills and 19 digs in the victory. Megan Jarchow and Julia Gibbs each collected 11 kills, while Gibbs added 16 digs and three service aces. Lauren Barrett dished out 40 assists and had 19 digs in the match, Caitlin Barrett added 18 digs, while Whitney Bean had five total blocks.

Against Bates, the Panthers used another balanced attack, with Elissa Goeke owning eight kills and Handel picking up seven. Gibbs had a solid all-around match with six kills, five service aces, 10 digs and two block assists. C. Barrett earned 17 digs in the win, while L. Barrett had 31 assists.
