The Middlebury College women's volleyball team opened up the '08 season with a trip to Wellesley for an Invitational Tournament. The Panthers opened the year with a 3-0 loss to Amherst, before bouncing back with a 3-0 win over E. Connecticut State. The weekend came to an end with a very tight 3-0 loss to the host school from Wellesley.
In the season-opener, rookie Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) led the team with eight kills, while senior Lindsay Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) added seven along with eight digs. Junior Natalie DuPre (Louisville, Ky.) added eight digs in the match, while Handel and senior Olivia Minkhorst (Atlanta, Ga.) each had seven.
Handel led the squad with nine kills in their win over E. Connecticut. Patterson and first-year player Caroline Cordle (Atlanta, Ga.) each had six kills in the win, as DuPre came up with 19 digs.
In their final match of the weekend, Handel picked up 13 kills in the team's loss to Wellesley. DuPre paced the team with 15 digs, Patterson had 13, while Cordle earned 10.
