The Middlebury College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 record en route to the Hall of Fame Classic title at Mt. Holyoke. The Panthers won the "silver" bracket, with 3-0 victories over three different teams.
Middlebury used a balanced attack as they topped Mt. Holyoke on the opening night of the tourney. First-year player Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) led the team with nine kills, classmate Caroline Cordle (Atlanta, Ga.) had seven, while senior Lindsay Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) earned six. Senior Olivia Minkhorst (Atlanta, Ga.) paced the squad with 11 digs, Patterson had 10, while junior Mallory White (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned three service aces.
Patterson had a dozen kills to lead the team to a win over Wheaton on day two. Sophomore Whitney Bean (Waukee, Iowa) and senior Kate Heath (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) each collected six kills, while junior Natalie DuPre (Louisville, Ky.) picked up 10 digs.
Handel and rookie Elissa Goeke (Chevy Chase, Md.) each had eight kills in the final match, leading the Panthers to a win over Gordon. Handel and Dupre had 10 digs apiece, Bean earned three blocks, while sophomore Lauren Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) had 30 assists. For her performances, Patterson earned tournament M.V.P. honors
