The Middlebury College women's volleyball team opened its season with three wins in four matches at the Potsdam Invitational over the weekend. Senior Lindsay Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Panthers dropped their season-opener as they fell 3-2 in a lengthy battle with Clarkson. Patterson had a dozen kills in the match, while senior Lexie Fisher (San Francisco, Calif.) had 10. Fisher added a team-high 18 digs and three blocks, followed by junior Reisa Bloch (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) with 17.
Middlebury bounced back later that night with a 3-1 win over Russell Sage. Patterson paced the offense with 13 kills, while junior Olivia Minkhorst (Atlanta, Ga.) had nine along with 45 assists. Bloch was a force on defense with 31 digs, while Patterson added 17.
The Panthers began Saturday with a 3-1 win over Oswego, behind 15 kills from Fisher and 11 from junior Josie Keller (York, Pa.). Bloch earned 21 digs, Patterson had 16, while Minkhorst dished out 43 assists.
Middlebury ended the weekend with a solid 3-0 win over St. Lawrence. Fisher had 12 kills in the win, while Bloch earned 15 digs.
