Women's Volleyball Captures Amherst Classic

The Middlebury women's volleyball team played three five-set matches as it captured the 2005 Amherst Classic Championship. The Panthers topped the host school 3-2 on day one, before defeating Brandeis 3-2 and falling to Trinity, 3-2.

Against Amherst, sophomore Lexie Fisher (San Francisco, Calif.) and senior Jackie Edwards (Oakland, Calif.) led the offense with 14 and 12 kills respectively. Senior Jamie Wong (San Francisco, Calif.) had 29 digs in the match, while junior Lacee Patterson (Aspen, Colo.) earned 43 assists.

Middlebury began its second day with another lengthy match as they defeated Brandeis. Fisher had 10 kills in the balanced offensive attack, while Patterson dished out 32 assists. Wong had 26 digs on defense, while sophomore Amy McCowan (Lafayette, Calif.) added 22.
