Middlebury spoiled Plymouth State University's senior night at Foley Gymnasium, pulling out a dramatic 3-2 victory in a non-conference women's volleyball match Wednesday evening. Lacee Patterson set a new school record with 67 assists in the match.
Middlebury won the first and third games, 33-31 and 31-29, and PSU answered with wins in the second and fourth games, 30-28 and 30-21. Middlebury led 11-7 and 13-9 in the fifth and decisive game, only to see PSU came back to tie it at 13-13, but the visitors prevailed in the end, 15-13.
Lexie Fisher led Middlebury with 16 kills, while Jackie Edwards and Lindsay Patterson added 14 kills apiece. Amy Heath chipped in with 12 kills. Jamie Wong recorded 38 digs, and Lacee Patterson had 67 assists and 25 digs.
