The Middlebury College women's volleyball team will makes its 12th straight appearance in the NESCAC Women's Volleyball Championship, as they travel to Colby for the eight-team tournament this weekend. The Panthers will take on Trinity in a quarterfinal match-up on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. If victorious, Middlebury would move on to the semifinals on Saturday and the championship on Sunday.
Middlebury won the NESCAC title in '97 and '98, ending those two seasons with a combined record of 51-10. This season, Middlebury finished in a five-way tie for third place with a 6-4 mark in NESCAC play and a 15-11 overall record. The Panthers have won their last three matches as they enter this weekend's tournament.
Leading the offense with 3.02 kills/game this season has been Lexie Fisher. Lindsay Patterson (2.10), Jackie Edwards (1.84) and Amy Heath (1.80) round out the other leaders in kills. On defense, Jamie Wong leads the team with 4.90 digs/game, followed by Patterson (3.59), Lacee Patterson (3.39) and Olivia Minkhorst (2.86). Edwards paces the team with 90 blocks, followed by Heath with 88 and Fisher with 81. Lacee Patterson averages 9.41 assists/game.
