Middlebury got off to a great start at Amherst as they defeated Wesleyan, 3-1. The balanced attack was led by first-year player Lexi Fisher's (San Francisco, Calif.) six kills and sophomore Lacee Patterson's (Aspen, Colo.) 21 digs.
The luck then went downhill for the Panthers as they dropped three straight matches. Pomona Pitzer defeated Middlebury 3-0, as Hicks led the team with nine kills.
In their first match on Saturday, Amherst won a hard-fought five set match, 3-2. Hicks and Patterson had 11 kills apiece, while Wong had 29 digs and Patterson earned 25.
The final match of the weekend saw Middlebury come up on the short end of a 3-1 match with Muhlenberg. Patterson (12), Edwards (11) and senior Sydney Hartsock (Snohomish, Wash.) (10) led the team in kills in the match, while Patterson (26) and Wong (20) paced the team in digs.
