Several members of the Middlebury men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Tufts' National Qualifying Meet on Saturday. The Panthers will wait to hear about their NCAA fate when the lists for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships are announced on Sunday.
Middlebury's 4x400 meter relay (Ava O'Mara, Cassie Kearney, Grace Desmond and Gretchen McGrath) won the event with a swift time of 3:53.94. The Panthers had five competitors place in the top-10 in the 800m. Nicole Johnson was first for Middlebury, clocking in at 2:15.08 which was good for second place. Emily Bulczynski followed in fourth with a time of 2:16.70, while Meg Wilson (2:16.83), Katie Glew (2:17.16) and Katelyn Pease (2:17.23) placed sixth through eighth, respectively. Talia Ruxin crossed the finish line in fifth in the 5,000m with a time of 18:05.32.
On the men's side, Jonathan Fisher placed second in the high jump, soaring to a height of 6'4.25". In the shot put, Nathanial Klein earned sixth place with a heave of 46'6.75". Will Meyer placed sixth in the mile with a time of 4:20.29, while Nathan Hill clocked in at 1:55.64 in the 800m to earn ninth.
