  • 14 Student-Athletes Elected into Phi Beta Kappa

    Fourteen senior student-athletes have been elected into Middlebury College’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The organization is the country’s oldest honor society for the liberal arts, founded in 1776, with the Middlebury chapter electing up to 10 percent of the senior class each year. One of the traditional symbols most often identified with Phi Betta Kappa is the key, which the society developed in its early days. Middlebury owns one of the oldest keys still in existence – that of the first president, Jeremiah Atwater.
  • Seven Track & Field Athletes Garner All-America Honors

    Seven members of the Middlebury women’s indoor track and field team earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors as announced by Board of Directors and the Division III Track & Field Executive Committee. The seven Panthers who earned the accolades are senior Meg Wilson (Concord, Mass.), juniors Katie Glew (Wilmette, Ill.) Gretchen McGrath (Exeter, N.H.) and Ava O’Mara (New York, N.Y.), along with sophomores Nicole Johnson (Madison, N.J.) and Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) and rookie Grace Desmond (Westborough, Mass.)

    Today’s Senior Saturday is dedicated to the Middlebury women’s track & field Class of 2020. The group has turned in some impressive team performances, while also holding several school records. The indoor squad finished in the top-four at the New England Indoor Championships three times, while placing in the top-three at the NESCAC Outdoor Championships each spring.

  • Six Panthers Garner All-Region Honors

    Six members of the Panthers men's and women's track and field teams earned All-Region honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). NCAA Division III has eight regions and Middlebury is a part of the New England Region. To earn the honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top-five in the region in their event. In addition, each member of a region's top-three relay team is selected for the distinction.

  • Panthers Qualify For NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

    Seven Panthers were selected to compete at the 2020 NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships from March 13-14. The meet is being held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. hosted by Guilford College and Visit Winston-Salem.
  • Track & Field Competes at Tufts National Qualifying Meet

    Several members of the Middlebury men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Tufts’ National Qualifying Meet on Saturday. The Panthers will wait to hear about their NCAA fate when the lists for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships are announced on Sunday.

  • Middlebury Finishes Sixth New England DIII Championships

    Middlebury had a strong second day at the 2020 New England Division III Track and Field Championships, as the Panthers placed sixth in a meet held on the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House. Middlebury collected 51.50 points among the 26 scoring teams, while Williams earned the team title with 159 points. The Panthers are back in action next weekend, competing at the Tufts Last-Chance Meet. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Middlebury Opens New England DIII Championships

    Middlebury opened the 2020 New England Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday on the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House. The Panthers boasted three of top-10 finishes and a school record on the first day of the event, while the meet concludes on Saturday, with competition getting started at 10:30 a.m. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Women’s Track & Field to Host DIII New England Championships

    The Middlebury women’s track and field team is set to host the 2020 Division III New England Championships February 28-29 in Virtue Fieldhouse. Middlebury has placed third three times over the last four years, while placing fourth in 2019. Williams is the two-time defending champion and has won the meet 16 times over the 30-year span.
  • Middlebury Competes at Ephs Field & Track Meet

    Members of the Panthers women’s track and field team competed at the Ephs Track & Field Meet hosted by Williams on Saturday. Middlebury is idle until Friday, February 28-29 when it hosts the Division III New England Championships.
  • Middlebury Competes at BU’s Valentine Invitational
    February 14, 2020
    The Middlebury women’s indoor track and field team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday. The Panthers turned in several strong performances in the non-scoring meet, facing off against a large contingent of competitors from all three NCAA divisions. Middlebury has numerous athletes competing at the Ephs Field & Track Meet on Saturday, before hosting the Division III New England Championships on February 28-29.
  • Panthers Record Trio of First-Place Finishes at Tufts Cupid Challenge

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams participated at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. There was no team scoring at the meet, but the Panthers recorded several top-10 finishes between both the men’s and women’s teams. Middlebury returns to action February 14th-15th when they head to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
  • Middlebury Completes at NYC Division III Invitational

    The Panther men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams participated in the New York City Division III Invitational on Friday. Middlebury’s women had a strong showing with 48 points to place second among the 27 scoring schools, while the men finished tied for 10th place (23) out of 27 programs. Johns Hopkins (122 points) ran away with the women’s title, while the Blue Jays (85.5) also took top honors for the men. Middlebury is back in action on February 8, competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge.
  • Top Performances Highlight Middlebury Invitational

    The Panther men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams each had strong showings at the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday, recording numerous first-place finishes. The Panther women ran away with first place recording 268.5 points among the nine scoring schools, finishing well ahead of second place Rensselaer (153.5). Middlebury earned 151 points among the eight men’s schools competing, with RPI (173.50) taking top honors. The Panthers return to action next weekend, competing in the New York City Division III Invitational  
  • Track & Field Boasts Several Winners at Middlebury Winterfell

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams hosted their Winterfell Meet on Saturday, boasting several stellar performances. The women placed second among the four competing schools with 179.50 points, trailing only NCAA Division I Vermont (184.50) by a slim margin. The men recorded 150 points, placing second behind Vermont (263). Both Middlebury teams return to action next weekend, hosting the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday on the New Balance Foundation Track in Virtue Field House.
  • Panthers Open Season Hosting Middlebury Winter Classic
    January 11, 2020
    The Middlebury men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2020 season, hosting the annual Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday. The Panthers had a number of quality performances among the six schools competing. Middlebury's women finished in second place with 135 points with Franklin Pierce taking first with 143, while the Panther men were fourth with 83 points. Franklin Pierce (147.5) also took top honors on for the men. Both Middlebury teams return to action Saturday, hosting the Middlebury Winterfell at 11:30 a.m. on the New Balance Track in the Virtue Field House.

  • Ellen, Willig Inducted Into Phi Beta Kappa

    Two Middlebury College senior student-athletes were elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society for the liberal arts and sciences in the United States. Men's squash player Jacob Ellen (New York, N.Y.) and women's cross country/track and field runner Anna Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.) were honored for their hard work in the classroom.
