  • Lang, Margiotta, Smith Inducted Into Phi Beta Kappa
    May 31, 2019
    Three Middlebury College senior student-athletes were elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society for the liberal arts and sciences in the United States. Women's track & field runner Lucy Lang (Lexington, Mass.), softball pitcher Irene Margiotta (Mendham, N.J.) and swimmer Andrew Smith (Middletown, N.J.) were honored for their hard work in the classroom. The event was the 151st Phi Beta Kappa induction in Middlebury's history and the trio joins three Panthers inducted in the fall.
  • Eight Panthers Garner USTFCCCA All-American Accolades

    Eight members of the Middlebury College track & field teams were honored when the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its list of All-American recipients following the NCAA Championship. The top-eight finishers in each event garnered All-American status. The three-day event took place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. 
  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team Members Recognized

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2019 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 132 representatives, the second-highest total in the conference.
  • Panthers Collect USTFCCCA All-Region Honors; Wilkerson Tabbed Women’s Regional Assistant Coach of the Year

    Middlebury College assistant track & field coach Nicole Wilkerson has been named the New England Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). With the award, Wilkerson picks up her fifth regional assistant coach of the year accolade. 
  • NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection. 
  • All-American Accolades Posted on Final Day of NCAA Championships

    The Panther men’s and women’s track and field teams combined to garner All-American accolades in five events during the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The three-day event was hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the SPIRE Institute. The Middlebury women finished tied for 23rd place out of 80 scoring teams with 10 points, while the men tied for 40th of 80 with seven points.
  • Panthers Secure Spots in Finals During Day Two of NCAA Meet

    Three members of the Middlebury track & field teams earned spots in their respective event finals on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The three-day event is taking place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The third and final day of action is slated to begin tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.
  • MacCary Runs to All-American Finish at NCAA Championships

    Middlebury’s Katherine MacCary’s All-American finish in the women’s 10,000-meter race highlighted action on a windy opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The three-day event is being hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the SPIRE Institute.
  • Sixteen Panthers Headed to NCAA Track & Field Championships

    Sixteen members of the Middlebury College track & field teams will take part in the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 23-25. The events will be contested at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio and will be hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
  • Panther Track & Field Competes at Open New Englands

    The Middlebury track & field teams participated in the two-day Open New England Championships on Friday and Saturday hosted by Southern Connecticut State. The men finished eighth out of 38 scoring teams at the event with 34 points, while the women wound up 13th among 41 squads with 22 points. All three NCAA divisions were represented at the meet, as the top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors. Selected members of the respective teams will return to action in hopes of bettering their NCAA marks on Thursday at the MIT Last Chance Meet.
  • Three School Records, Two Event Wins Highlight DIII New Englands

    Three school records and two events victories highlighted the Middlebury track & field teams' efforts in the Division III New England Championships. The three-day meet was hosted by Williams on the Lee Track. The Panther men finished third out of 32 scoring teams with 64 points, while the women were tied for seventh out of 34 teams with 37 points. Top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors. The teams return to action next Friday and Saturday for the Open New England Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut.
  • Panthers Earn Numerous All-NESCAC Accolades

    The Middlebury track & field teams raked in numerous All-NESCAC laurels while hosting the 2019 NESCAC Championship meet at the Dragone Track & Field Complex. The men's track & field team earned its second-straight NESCAC Championship and the second title in program history with 201 points, while the women were second with 145.50 points. The top-three finishers in each event earned All-NESCAC Honors. Nicholas Hendrix was selected as the Sabasteanski Award winner, given to the Most Outstanding Male Performer, while head coach Martin Beatty and his staff were named the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

    Katherine MacCary ’19, a senior on both the women’s cross country and track and field teams, found a love for running and competing at an early age. An art history major with minors in French and environmental studies from Los Angeles, California, MacCary talks about her love for competing and the internship she had last summer.
  • Men’s Track & Field Claims Second NESCAC Title, Women Place Second

    The Middlebury men's track & field team earned its second-straight NESCAC Championship and the second in program history, while the women were second while hosting the 2019 NESCAC Championships at the Dragone Track & Field Complex. The Panthers claimed the men's crown with 201 points, while Tufts was second with 143 and Amherst finished third with 130. The Williams' women won the team title with 165 points, ahead of Middlebury (145.5) and Bowdoin (109). The top-three finishers in each event earned All-NESCAC Honors.
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Set to Host NESCAC Championships

    The 2019 NESCAC Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Championships will be held Saturday, April 27 at the Middlebury College’s Dragone Complex in Middlebury, Vt. The one-day event gets underway at 9 a.m. The championships will be streamed online, a link can be found at NESCAC.com and the broadcast can also be seen on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire. Search for and download the ‘NESCAC Network’ channel.
  • Panthers Collect Top Finishes at Williams Invitational

    The Middlebury track and field teams boasted numerous winning performances on Saturday when the Panthers competed at the Williams Invitational Quad Meet. The event had no team scores in a meet that featured Rensselaer, WPI, Middlebury and the host Ephs. The Panthers return to action next weekend, hosting the 2019 NESCAC Championships.
  • Panther Women Win Silfen Invitational, Men Finish Second

    The Middlebury men's and women's track & field teams continued their strong starts to the outdoor season, competing at the two-day Silfen Invitational on Friday and Saturday hosted by Connecticut College. The Panther women won the invitational collecting 116 points among 20 scoring teams, edging out Bowdoin with 108. The men finished in second place among 22 scoring squads with 85.5 points, trailing only WPI with 97.5. The Panthers return to action on Friday when they compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton.
  • Middlebury Excels At Amherst Spring Fling

    The Middlebury track and field teams competed in the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, as both teams turned in strong performances to place second. The Panther women earned 90 points, trailing only Wheaton (Mass.) with 94 points, while the men secured 100.50, with Amherst taking top honors with 152. Middlebury returns to action next weekend when they compete at the two-day Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
  • Panthers Fare Well at California Collegiate Invitational

    The Middlebury track and field teams concluded their annual spring trip to the west coast by taking part in the California Collegiate Open hosted by UC San Diego. The Panther men finished third out of 13 scoring teams with 89 points in a meet that featured teams from all three NCAA divisions, while the women were also third of 13 and accumulated 79.5 points. The Panthers return to action Friday when they compete in the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton.
  • Middlebury Track & Field Excels in California
    March 23, 2019
    The Middlebury men's and women's track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of the schedule Saturday, competing at the PNLU Collegiate Invitational hosted by Point Loma Nazarene. The Panther men won the invitational collecting 303.5 points among 13 scoring teams, edging out Tufts with 289. The women finished in a fourth-place tie with Rowan among 14 scoring squads with 230 points, trailing only Williams (246), Cal Poly Pomona (243) and the host Sea Lions (231). The Panthers continue their spring trip out west, participating in the California Collegiate Invitational next Saturday hosted by UC San Diego.

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2018-19 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 124 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • Panther Women’s Quartet Earns All-American Accolades

    Four Middlebury women’s track & field athletes recently earned All-American honors by virtue of their finishes at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston. Seniors Rory Kelly (Winnetka, Ill.) and Abigail Nadler (Chicago, Ill.), along with sophomore Gretchen McGrath (Londonderry, N.H.) and rookie Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) were each a part of a top-eight finish in the meet held in the Reggie Lewis Center.
  • Kelly Runs to All-American Accolade at NCAA Championships

    Middlebury’s Rory Kelly earned All-American honors in the 3,000-meter run on the final day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The two-day meet was held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Coupled with the women's distance medley relay’s fifth-place finish on Friday evening, the Panther women recorded 12 team points, good for a tie for 16th place out of 76 scoring institutions.
  • Men’s DMR Wins National Title, Women’s DMR and Rahman All-Americans at NCAAs

    The Middlebury men's distance medley relay team won the national title, while the women’s distance medley relay team and Minhaj Rahman both earned All-American honors to highlight the first day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The men’s quartet earns the first indoor national event championship in program history and the third for the Panthers, joining the 2011 and 2012 women’s DMR teams. The two-day meet is being held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. The final day of competition is scheduled to begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
  • 12 Panthers Collect USTFCCCA All-Region Track & Field Honors

    The Middlebury track and field teams were well represented on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region squads. A total of 12 Panthers collected All-New England accolades when the national organization announced its award winners for the indoor season.

    A group of Panthers competed at the Tufts Last Chance Meet on Saturday in the hopes of bettering their standings for the upcoming selections for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. The national meet takes place next weekend in the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • Panther Women Fourth at New England Championships

    Middlebury finished in fourth place at the 2019 New England Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Bowdoin. Middlebury earned 57 points among the 26 scoring programs, finishing behind Williams (140), MIT (87.5) and Tufts (67). The team returns to action next Saturday when it takes part in the Tufts Last-Chance Meet. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Track & Field Wins Home Team Challenge

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams each placed first, as the Panthers hosted the Middlebury Team Challenge on Saturday on the New Balance Foundation Track in Virtue Field House. The women’s squad recorded 200 points to lead the five-team field, while the men collected 237 points to pace the four programs competing. Both Middlebury teams compete at the Division III New England Championships next weekend, with the men’s team heading to MIT and the women going to Bowdoin.
  • School Record Falls in Fastrack National Invitational

    A school record fell on Friday as the Panther track & field teams competed in the non-scoring Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. The meet featured athletes from all three NCAA divisions and international running clubs. The Panthers return to the track next Saturday when they host the Middlebury Team Challenge.
