  • Panther Track & Field Teams Honored for Academic Excellence
    July 27, 2018
    The Middlebury track and field teams were recently honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The men posted the nation's best cumulative grade point average of 3.73 to lead 106 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams. The women were tied for second with Saint Vincent out of 185 programs that earned the honor with an identical 3.73 GPA, who must earn a GPA of 3.00 or better.
  • 14 Panthers Collect USTFCCCA All-Region Track & Field Honors

    The Middlebury track and field teams were well represented on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region squads. A total of 14 Panthers collected All-New England accolades when the national organization announced its award winners.

  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2018 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 131 representatives, the second-highest total in the conference.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Seven Panthers Headed to NCAA Track & Field Championships

    Seven members of the Middlebury College track & field teams will take part in the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 24-26. The events will be take place at the Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
  • Panther Track & Field Competes at Open New Englands

    The Middlebury track & field teams participated in the two-day Open New England Championships on Friday and Saturday hosted by Dartmouth. The men finished 18th out of 36 scoring teams at the event, while the women wound up tied for 30th of 39 squads who tallied points. All three NCAA divisions were represented at the meet, as the top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors. Selected members of the respective teams will return to action in hopes of bettering their NCAA marks on Thursday at the MIT Last Chance Meet.
  • Two School Records, Event Win Highlight DIII New Englands

    The men’s 4x100-meter relay team as well as Kate McCluskey each broke school records, while Jimmy Martinez won the 400-meter dash Saturday, highlighting the Middlebury track & field teams' efforts in the Division III New England Championships. The three-day meet was hosted by MIT on the Morrison Track. The Panther men finished fourth out of 30 teams competing with 62.5 points, while the women were ninth out of 33 teams with 27 points. Top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors. The teams return to action next Friday and Saturday for the Open New England Championships hosted by Dartmouth.
  • Panthers Earn Numerous All-NESCAC Accolades; Beatty & Staff Named Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year

    The Middlebury track & field teams raked in numerous All-NESCAC laurels last Saturday during the 2018 NESCAC Championship meet. The men's track & field team earned its first NESCAC Championship in program history with 172 points, while the women were third with 96.50 points in the event hosted by Trinity on the Jessee/Miller Field. The top-three finishers in each event earned All-NESCAC Honors. Head coach Martin Beatty and his staff were named the Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year.
  • Men’s Track & Field Claims First NESCAC Title, Women Place Third

    The Middlebury men's track & field team earned its first NESCAC Championship in program history, while the women were third in the 2018 NESCAC Championships hosted by Trinity on the Jessee/Miller Field. The Panthers claimed the men's crown with 172 points, while Williams was second with 140 and Tufts finished third with 137. The Williams' women won the team title with 200 points, ahead of Tufts (115.50) and Middlebury (96.50). The top-three finishers in each event earned All-NESCAC Honors.
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Set for NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury track & field teams will be in search of conference team titles, when Trinity will host the 2018 NESCAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 28 at Jessee/Miller Field in Hartford, Connecticut. Competition gets underway at 9:00 a.m. with several field events and the women's 10,000-meter run.
  • Track & Field Squads Compete at Williams Quad Meet

    The Middlebury track and field teams turned in a host of solid performances on Saturday when the Panthers competed at the Williams Quad Meet. The event had no team scores in a meet that featured SUNY Oneonta, WPI, Middlebury and the host Ephs. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Trinity.
  • Trio of Track & Field Athletes Compete at Silfen Invitational

    Three members of the Middlebury track & field teams competed at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday after the Panther Spring Invitational was cancelled due to weather. Kiera Dowell and Rebecca Gorman took part in the heptathlon for the women, while the men were represented by Jonathan Fisher in the decathlon. The Panthers return to action on Friday at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton and the Williams Invitational on Saturday.

  • Panthers Post Numerous Event Wins at Amherst Spring Fling

    The Middlebury track and field teams competed in the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, tallying numerous events victories. The Panther women finished fourth out of seven teams with 72 points, while the men were also fourth out of seven schools with 49 points. The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host the Panther Spring Invitational.
  • Panthers Fare Well at California Collegiate Open

    The Middlebury track and field teams concluded their annual spring trip to the west coast by taking part in the California Collegiate Open hosted by UC San Diego. The Panther women finished fifth out of 17 teams with 46 points in a meet that featured teams from all three NCAA divisions, while the men were seventh of 14 and accumulated 67 points. The Panthers return to action Saturday when they compete in the Amherst Spring Fling.
  • Middlebury Track & Field Excels in California
    March 24, 2018
    The Middlebury men's and women's track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of the schedule Saturday, competing at the PNLU Collegiate Invitational hosted by Point Loma Nazarene. The Panther men won the invitational collecting 155 points among 11 scoring teams, edging out Tufts with 151. The women finished third among 13 scoring teams with 114 points, trailing only the host Sea Lions (197) and Williams (194). The Panthers continue their spring trip out west, participating in the California Collegiate Invitational next Saturday hosted by UC San Diego.

    The Middlebury men's distance medley relay team earned All-American honors and Jimmy Martinez qualified for Saturday’s final in the 400-meter run to highlight the first day of the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The two-day meet is being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. The final day of competition is scheduled to begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

    Eight members of the Middlebury College indoor track & field teams were selected to take part in the 2018 NCAA Championships from March 9-10. The meet is being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

  • Track & Field Competes at Boston University Last Chance Qualifier

    Select members of the Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams traveled to Boston on Sunday, competing at the Boston University Last Chance Meet. Teams from all three NCAA levels and various club teams participated in the non team-scoring event. The Panthers return to action on March 3, traveling to the Tufts Last Chance Meet.
  • Women’s Track & Field Takes Third at New England DIII Championships

    Middlebury garnered a third-place finish at the 2018 New England Division III Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Springfield on Saturday. The Panthers collected 73 points among the 30 scoring teams, trailing only Williams (149) and MIT (127). The team returns to the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House next weekend for the Middlebury Carnival. The top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Two School Records Fall in Boston Meets

    A pair of school records fell this weekend as the Panther track & field teams competed in two Boston-area meets. Middlebury took part in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center as well as the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT. Both meets were unscored and featured athletes from all three NCAA divisions and international running clubs. The Panthers return to the track next weekend for the Division III New England Championships with the men hosting the meet and the women heading to Springfield.

    The Middlebury indoor track and field teams took part on Saturday in the non-scoring Tufts Cupid Challenge at the Gantcher Center. The Panthers recorded numerous top-five efforts in a meet that featured teams from all three NCAA divisions. Middlebury returns to competition next weekend, participating at both the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday and Saturday and the Gordon Kelley Invitational at MIT on Saturday.

    The Middlebury men's indoor track and field team took top honors at the Middlebury Invitational, with the women finishing second. The men ran away with the team title among 10 programs, recording 175 points, followed by Williams (106) and St. Lawrence (104). The women scored 144 points, trailing only Williams (147). The Panthers return to action next weekend, traveling to the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.
  • Track & Field Boasts Several Winners at Middlebury Winterfell

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams hosted their Winterfell Meet on Saturday, boasting several top finishes. The men placed third among the seven competing schools with 136 points, trailing only NCAA Division I programs Albany (181) and Vermont (137). The women recorded 86 points, placing fourth behind Albany (193), McGill (115) and Vermont (102). Both Middlebury teams return to action next weekend, hosting the Middlebury Invitational Friday and Saturday on the New Balance Track in Virtue Field House.
  • Middlebury Track & Field Shines in Opening Home Meet

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams each claimed top honors at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday, as the Panthers boasted numerous first-place performances among the six competing schools. Middlebury’s women earned 157.50 points, placing ahead of Rensselaer (121.50) and Franklin Pierce (106), while the men finished with 148 points. Placing second in the men’s scoring was Rensselaer (136), while Franklin Pierce (101) was third. Both Middlebury teams return to action Saturday, hosting the Middlebury Winterfell at 11:30 a.m. on the New Balance Track in the Virtue Field House.

    The Middlebury men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2018 schedule Sunday at the 49th Dartmouth Relays. The Panthers sent a few members of each team to the meet, as several top-20 efforts were recorded in an event that featured all three NCAA divisions, as well as several club programs. Both teams return to action Saturday, hosting the Middlebury Winter Classic at 11:00 a.m. on the New Balance Track in the Virtue Field House.
