  • Panther Track & Field Teams Honored for Academic Excellence
    August 15, 2016
    The Middlebury track and field teams were recently honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The men were one of 112 to become a Division III All-Academic Track & Field Team, earning a grade point average of 3.10 or better, posting the nation’s sixth-highest cumulative team GPA of 3.52. The women were 13th out of 175 teams that earned the honor with a 3.56 GPA.
  • Nadler Posts All-American Effort on Final Day of NCAA Meet

    Abigail Nadler posted an All-American sixth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run during the final day of the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The three-day event was hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa and took place at the Waltson-Hoover Stadium. Nadler's three points on Saturday coupled with a fifth-place All-American run from Adrian Walsh in Thursday's 10,000-meter run gave the Panthers seven team points, tying them for 39th out of 85 teams who scored points.
  • Two Panthers Compete on Second Day of NCAA Championship

    Two members of the Middlebury women’s track & field team competed on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Waverly, Iowa. The three-day event hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa concludes on Saturday at Walston-Hoover Stadium with the first event scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
  • Walsh’s Fifth-Place Finish Highlights Day One of NCAA Meet

    Adrian Walsh’s fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run highlighted day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Waverly, Iowa. The three-day event hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa continues on Friday at Walston-Hoover Stadium with the first event scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
  • Five Panther Track & Field Women Headed to NCAA Championships

    Five members of the Middlebury College women’s track & field team will take part in the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 26-28. The events will take place inside Walston Hoover Stadium and are hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
  • Five Panthers Earn All-ECAC Honors, School Record Falls

    Five members of the Middlebury track & field teams earned All-ECAC honors and Alex Nichols eclipsed his own school record in the 400-meter dash while competing at the ECAC Championship hosted by Westfield State. The Panthers were hoping to improve their chances for entry into the upcoming NCAA Championship next week at Wartburg. The top-eight finishers in each event garnered All-ECAC honors.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Walsh’s Event Win, Numerous All-New England Finishes & School Records Highlight Open New Englands

    A New England Championship victory by Adrian Walsh during the women’s 10,000-meter run and a pair of school records highlighted the Middlebury track & field teams’ participation in two-day Open New England Championships on Friday and Saturday hosted by Southern Connecticut State. The women finished in a tie for 15th out of 38 scoring teams at the event, while the men wound up 23rd of 38. All three NCAA divisions were represented at the meet, as top-eight finishers earned All-New England honors. The teams will return to action next Wednesday and Thursday at the ECAC Championships hosted by Westfield State.
  • Virtue Field House Receives LEED Gold Certification

    Middlebury College's expansive, light-filled Virtue Field House, completed last year, has earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s second-highest level of certification, LEED Gold. The LEED stamp of approval came earlier this month. The LEED rating system (shorthand for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used third-party verification for green buildings, certifying and celebrating buildings that promote sustainability, resource conservation, and human health.
  • Serrao Breaks School Record, Panthers Compete at DIII New Englands

    Kevin Serrao broke a 12-year old program mark in the 800-meter run, highlighting the Middlebury track & field teams' performances in the Division III New England Championships hosted by Springfield. The Panther women finished fourth out of 31 teams competing with 50 points, while the men were tied for ninth out of 31 teams with 22 points. Top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Women’s Track & Field Athletes Post All-NESCAC Laurels, Beatty Leads Coaching Staff of the Year

    The NESCAC announced its 2016 All-Conference Teams at the completion of the league’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Amherst. The top-three finishers in each event during the championship last Saturday received All-Conference recognition. Panther head coach Martin Beatty and his staff earned the conference’s Women’s Coaching Staff of the Year accolade, leading the Panthers to a runner-up finish in the meet.
  • Panther Women Finish Second, Men Third at NESCAC Outdoor Championship

    Taking part in the 2016 NESCAC Outdoor Championship, the Middlebury women's track & field team finished in the runner-up spot, while the men were third in the event hosted by Amherst on Pratt Field. Williams claimed the women's crown with 165 points ahead Middlebury’s 140, while the Williams’ men won the team title (207) ahead of Tufts (182) and Middlebury (122).
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Set for NESCAC Championship

    The Middlebury track & field teams will be in search of conference team titles, when Amherst hosts the 2016 NESCAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 30 at Pratt Field. Competition gets underway at 9:00 a.m. with the men's discus, the women's hammer throw, the men's long jump and the women's 10,000-meter run.
  • Middlebury Track Teams Compete at UAlbany Spring Classic

    The Middlebury track and field teams turned in a host of solid performances on Saturday when the Panthers competed at the University of Albany Spring Classic. The event featured no team scores with more than 20 collegiate programs, 12 club teams and field more than 650 competitors. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Amherst.
  • Middlebury Track & Field Spring Training Trip to California

    Paige Fernandez ’17 captured some moments on and off the track while the Middlebury track & field teams took their annual spring training trip to San Diego. The teams have been going out to Southern California for a week of training for more than 20 years, proving to yield some great times on and off the track.
  • Middlebury Sweeps Team Titles During Panther Spring Invite
    April 16, 2016
    The Middlebury track & field teams hosted their lone home meet of the season on Saturday, highlighted by a school-record javelin throw by Carly Andersen and a 400-meter dash mark from Alexandra Morris. The women won the meet with 226 points outdistancing second-place Southern Maine's 177, while the men racked up 288 to edge Bowdoin's total of 277. In addition to Southern Maine and Bowdoin, the Panthers welcomed Castleton, Green Mountain and The Sage Colleges to a sun-soaked Dragone Track. The Panther squads return to action next Saturday at the UAlbany Spring Classic.
  • Player Named NESCAC Field Athlete of the Week

    Middlebury College track & field athlete Devon Player (Phoenixville, Pa.) has been named the NESCAC Field Athlete the Week. The sophomore won the javelin throw at the Springfield Quad on Saturday with the distance of 134’4”. Player’s winning toss, which ranks 10th in Division III thus far this spring, helped the Panthers finish first in the team standings.
  • Panther Women Win Quad Meet at Springfield, Men Finish Third

    The Middlebury track & field teams competed in a quad meet Saturday featuring Plattsburgh State, Wheaton (Mass.), the Panthers and the hosts of Springfield. The women won the meet with a total of 192.50 points, just ahead of second-place Springfield’s 188, while the men finished third with 171 behind Plattsburgh State (197) and Springfield (174). Middlebury returns to action Saturday when it hosts the Panther Spring Invitational on Dragone Track.
  • Middlebury Fares Well at California Collegiate Invite

    The Middlebury track and field teams concluded their annual spring trip to California taking part in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego. The Panther women finished sixth out of 12 teams with 56 points, while the men were tied for sixth of 11 accumulating 61 points. The Panthers return to action Saturday when they take part in a tri-meet with host Springfield along with Plattsburgh State.
  • Andersen Named NESCAC Field Athlete of the Week

    Middlebury College track & field athlete Carly Andersen (Mercer Island, Wash.) has been named the NESCAC Field Athlete of the Week. The senior finished second in the javelin toss at the Point Loma Nazarene Collegiate Invitational on Saturday with a throw of 41.48m (136’1”). She was the top collegiate finisher in the event consisting of 30 entrants, and her mark currently ranks sixth this spring in Division III.
  • Morris’ School Record, Matt's Victory Highlights PLNU Collegiate Invitational

    Alexandra Morris broke the school record in the 400-meter dash and Sebastian Matt won the 5,000-meter run as the Middlebury track and field teams opened their annual spring trip to California in the PLNU Collegiate Invitational. The Panther women finished sixth out of 18 teams with 145 points, while the men were seventh of 21 with 164 points. Middlebury returns to action Saturday when they compete in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.
  • Morris, Women’s 4x400 Relay Earn All-American Laurels to Conclude NCAA Meet

    The Middlebury women's 4x400-meter relay team along with Alexandra Morris in the 400-meter dash earned All-American honors on the second and final day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The two-day event took place at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Rec and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa on the campus of Grinnell College. Coupled with Friday's distance medley relay fourth-place finish and Adrian Walsh's seventh-place effort in the 5,000-meter run, the women racked up a combined nine team points, good for a tie for 24th place out of 77 teams who scored.

    The Middlebury women’s and men’s distance medley relay teams earned All-American honors as well as Adrian Walsh during the 5,000-meter run on the first day of the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The two-day event is taking place at the Charles Benson Bear '39 Rec and Athletic Center in Grinnell, Iowa on the campus of Grinnell College.

  • Two Women’s School Records Highlight ECAC Championships

    A pair of school records during women’s competition highlighted the Middlebury track & field teams efforts during the ECAC Championships on Friday and Saturday. The meet was held at the Ocean Breeze Track Center in Staten Island, New York. The Panther men finished 17th out of 51 teams competing, while the women tied for 23rd of 50 as athletes looked to qualify and better their respective marks for next weekend's NCAA Championships. Top-eight finishers in each event were awarded All-ECAC honors.
  • Multiple School Records Lowered at Open New England Championships

    The Middlebury indoor track & field teams set four school records at the Open New England Championships on Friday and Saturday hosted by Division I Boston University. The event was contested on a banked track and featured over 70 schools combined from all three NCAA divisions, as the women finished 20th of 32 teams with five points, while the men were 31st of 36 with six points. The teams return to the track next Friday and Saturday for the ECAC Championships at the Ocean Breeze Track Center in Staten Island, New York.
  • School Records, Event Wins Highlight Panther Third-Place Finish During DIII New Englands

    Two school records and five event victories by the Middlebury women’s track & field team highlighted the two-day Division III New England Women’s Track & Field Championship inside the Virtue Field House on the New Balance Foundation Track. The Panther women racked up 82 team points with 31 teams scoring, finishing behind team champion MIT (123.50) and Williams (93.83). All-New England Division III honors are awarded to the top-eight placers in each event. The Panthers return to the track next Friday when they take part in the Open New England Championships hosted by Boston University.

    The Middlebury College women’s track & field team will host the 2016 New England Division III Women’s Track & Field Championship this Friday and Saturday in Virtue Field House on the New Balance Foundation Track. The meet will feature nearly 50 schools and over 450 athletes competing in the two-day event. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
  • Serrao Breaks 800 Record as Track & Field Teams Compete in Boston
    February 13, 2016
    Middlebury's Kevin Serrao broke the men's 800-meter dash record and Jimmy Martinez lowered the school mark in the 400-meter dash on Saturday as the Panthers competed in two meets this weekend. The men's squad took part Saturday in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center as well as the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by M.I.T., while the women competed at M.I.T. Both meets were unscored and featured athletes from all three NCAA divisions and international running clubs. The Panthers return to the track next weekend when the women host the Division III New England Championships in Virtue Field House, while the men will travel to M.I.T. for the event.
