  • Maxwell Named Among Top 30 Honorees for NCAA Woman of the Year

    Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.), a 2015 Middlebury graduate, has been selected as one of the Top 30 honorees (10 from each NCAA division) for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year award. Presented annually by the association since 1991, the award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. The 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced on October 18 at the Westin Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Maxwell Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

    Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.), a 2015 Middlebury graduate, has been nominated by the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award by a committee of conference administrators.
  • Maxwell Selected USTFCCCA Co-Athlete of the Year, Panther Teams Honored for Academic Excellence

    Middlebury graduate Alison Maxwell '15 (Port Angeles, Wash.) added another accolade to her resume when she was named one of three female Scholar Athletes of the Year in Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Middlebury track and field teams were also honored by the organization for their work in the classroom. The men were one of 99 to become a Division III All-Academic Track & Field Team, earning a grade point average of 3.10 or better, posting the nation's third-highest cumulative team GPA of 3.50. The women were tied for 20th out of 170 teams that earned the honor with a 3.55 GPA.
  • Maxwell Selected First-Team Academic All-American by CoSIDA for Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country

    Middlebury College women's track & field and cross country runner Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) continues to accumulate accolades for her work in and out of the classroom during her time at Middlebury. On Tuesday, she was named to the Capital One Academic All-American first team for Women's Track & Field/Cross Country by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Maxwell graduated in May with a degree in biochemistry and a 3.80 grade point average. She is the seventh student-athlete in school history and the third honoree this year to achieve the accolade. Maxwell joins Emily Fluke (women’s hockey in 2015), Dan Pierce (football in 2014), William Sadik-Khan (football in 2013), Andrew Harris (men's basketball in 2008), John Humphrey (men's basketball in 1988) and Paul Righi (men's basketball in 1982).
  • Maxwell Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

    Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.), a 2015 Middlebury graduate, is one of eight women who have been nominated by their respective institutions to represent the NESCAC as its NCAA Woman of the Year selection. A committee of conference administrators will select the NESCAC’s representative for the award. The nominees represent eight institutions and have outstanding athletic, academic, and community achievements.
  • Spring NESCAC Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • Maxwell Earns Place on CoSIDA Academic Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team

    Middlebury College women’s track & field and cross country runner Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) has been named a Capital One Academic All-District I First-Team Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country team honoree by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The senior graduated last weekend with a degree in biochemistry and a 3.79 grade point average and she is now eligible for the Academic All-America team which will be released in June.
  • Spring NESCAC Academic Team Released

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014-15 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury’s 89 representatives.
  • Andersen’s School Record, Maxwell’s All-American Finish Highlight Final Day of NCAAs

    Carly Andersen set the school record in the javelin throw and Alison Maxwell posted an All-American finish during the final day of the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The three-day event was hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York and took place at the Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex.
  • Walsh's Ninth-Place Effort Highlights Day One of NCAA Championship

    A trio of athletes from the Middlebury women's track & field team competed in their respective events during the opening day of the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Action for the three-day meet continues on Friday at the Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex with the first event scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
  • Six Panther Track & Field Women Headed to NCAA Championships

    Six members of the Middlebury College women’s track & field team will take part in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships to take place on May 21-23. The events will take place inside the Merrick-Pinkard Track & Field Complex and are hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
  • Andersen, Player Post Top-Six Finishes in Javelin at ECAC Championships

    Two members of the Middlebury women's track and field teams looked to better their distances for the upcoming NCAA Championship next week, competing at the ECAC Championship event Thursday hosted by Springfield. Carly Andersen and Devon Player each took part in the javelin throw, garnering All-ECAC honors with their top-eight finishes.
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Compete at Open New England’s

    Members of the Middlebury College track & field teams took part in the Open New England Championships on Friday and Saturday hosted by M.I.T. The women finished in a tie for 15th out of 41 scoring teams at the event, while the men didn’t record any team points.
  • Blackburn Eclipses Heptathlon Record, Panthers Compete at Division III New England’s

    Hannah Blackburn broke a 15-year old school record in the heptathlon, highlighting the Middlebury track & field teams’ performances in the Division III New England Championships hosted by M.I.T. The Panther women finished tied for 10th out of 31 teams competing with 32 points, while the men were 22nd out of 29 teams. Top-eight finishers in each event earned All-New England honors.
  • Middlebury Women's Track & Field Athletes Earn All-NESCAC Honors

    Following the completion of the NESCAC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships last Saturday at Williams College, the NESCAC has announced its 2015 All-Conference Teams. The top-three finishers in each event during the championship receive All-Conference recognition.
  • Panther Women Third, Men Fourth at NESCAC Championships

    Taking part in the 2015 NESCAC Outdoor Championship, the Middlebury women’s track & field team finished third, while the men were fourth in the event hosted by Williams on Williamson Field. Williams claimed the women’s crown with 170 points just ahead of Tufts’ 148 points and Middlebury’s 98 points, while the Tufts men won the team title (169.3) ahead of Williams (164), Bates (109.5) and Middlebury (73).
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Set for NESCAC Championship

    Williams will host the 2015 NESCAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday, April 25 at Lee Family Track in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Action gets underway at 9:00 a.m.
  • Maxwell Named NESCAC Runner of the Week

    Middlebury College women’s track and field athlete Alison Maxwell (Mercer Island, Wash.) has been selected as the NESCAC Track Performer of the Week. The 2015 NCAA Indoor National Champion in the mile, Maxwell recorded a time of 4:34.51 as the top Division III finisher in the 1,500-meter run during the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton. That time currently is the ninth-quickest mark in Division III and automatically qualifies her for the ECAC Championships next month at Springfield.
  • Middlebury Track & Field Competes in Non-Scoring UAlbany Spring Classic

    The Middlebury track and field teams took part in the 31st Annual UAlbany Spring Classic on Friday and Saturday on the UAlbany Track & Field Stadium. The meet featured teams from across the New England region and was non-scoring. The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they compete at the NESCAC Championship hosted by Williams.
  • Panther Track & Field Teams Compete at Dick Farley Invitational

    The Middlebury track and field teams took part Saturday in the Dick Farley Invitational hosted by Williams on the Lee Track. The meet featured teams from across the New England region and was non-scoring. The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they participate in the UAlbany Spring Classic.
  • Panther Men Win Middlebury Invitational, Women Finish Second

    The Panther track & field teams hosted their lone home meet of the season, as the Middlebury Invitational was moved up a day to Friday due to the possibility of poor weather conditions predicted for Saturday. The men won the meet with 214 points, while the women finished second with 198. The Panthers welcomed Springfield, Castleton State, Plattsburgh State, Williams and Green Mountain to a sun-soaked Dragone Track.
  • Player Named NESCAC Performer of the Week

    Middlebury College women's track and field athlete Devon Player (Phoenixville, Pa.) was selected as the NESCAC Field Performer of the Week. Player recorded a throw of 131'9" in the javelin at the Point Loma Nazarene Invitational to earn fourth place. Her mark was also an ECAC Championship qualifying distance, places her atop the NESCAC ranks and in the top 10 nationally.
  • Panther Men Third, Women Fourth in PLNU Collegiate Invitational

    The Middlebury track and field teams concluded their annual spring trip to California taking part in the PLNU Collegiate Invitational. The Panther men finished third out of 12 teams with 219.50 points, while the women finished fourth of 13 with 188 points. The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host their lone home dual meet of the spring against Springfield.
  • Panther Women Win Irwin Meet Team Title, Men Finish Second

    The Middlebury track and field teams opened up their spring seasons at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Meet. The Panther women racked up 217 points for the team title out of 11 squads competing, while the men scored 242.50 points to finish second behind Navy. The meet was hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University in California. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at the same school, competing in the PLNU Collegiate Invitational.
  • Maxwell Runs to National Championship in Women’s Indoor Mile, Spillane and Guth All-Americans

    Alison Maxwell sprinted to the finish line ahead of the field to claim the national championship in the women's mile during the final day of the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Maxwell becomes the first Panther individual champion since Khristoph Becker won the javelin outdoors in 2005, and the first female since Kristy Laramee stood atop the podium following the high jump event at the indoor national meet in 2000. The two-day event is taking place at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with Roanoke College serving as the host institution.

    The Middlebury women’s indoor distance medley relay team earned All-American honors for the sixth-straight year with a fourth-place effort during the final event of day one of the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. The two-day event is taking place at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with Roanoke College serving as the host institution.
  • Wilkerson Named USTFCCCA New England Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year

    Middlebury College assistant track & field coach Nicole Wilkerson has been named the New England Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). With the award, Wilkerson picks up her fourth regional assistant coach of the year accolade.

  • Blackburn Eclipses Pentathlon Record as Panthers Compete at ECACs

    Hannah Blackburn broke her own school record she set just two weeks ago in the pentathlon, highlighting the Panther indoor track teams’ results during the ECAC Championships. The meet, comprised of more than 60 men’s and 60 women’s teams, was held at the 168th Street Armory in New York City and was hosted by NYU, as athletes looked to qualify and better their respective marks for next weekend's NCAA Championships.
