The Middlebury College track & field teams hosted their only meet of the spring on Saturday, the Middlebury Invitational. The Panthers competed with the University of Vermont, Plattsburgh and the Colby-Sawyer women. Middlebury convincingly won both the men's and women's meets at Dragone, taking 25 of 35 events.
Highlighting some of the winners on Saturday was senior Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.), who set a new Dragone Track record with a win in the 800 (2:11.82). Senior Kara Walker (Swansea, Mass.) earned a win in the long jump (16’11.25”), while rookie Carly Andersen (Mercer Island, Wash.) tossed 117’7” to capture the javelin. Also earning a win was first-year racer Alexandra Morris (London, England), who won the 400 (1:00.97).
First-year thrower David Plunkett (Marblehead, Mass.) took home two titles on Saturday, winning both the shot put (41’.25”) and the hammer (141’5”). Classmate Decklan Robinson (Hamilton, Mass.) leapt 21’3.25” to win the long jump. Junior Bryan Holtzman (Sudbury, Mass.) won the 100 (10.81), while rookie Lucas Carpinello (Delmar, N.Y.) was a winner in the 800 (2:00.39).
