The Panther track and field teams competed for the second time on their spring trip to California, racing at the Mengrum Invitational hosed by Cal State San Marcos. Sophomore Anthony Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.) turned in a solid performance in the 3,000 steeplechase, placing second overall in 9:47.3
Sophomore Stuart Fram (Waterbury Center, Vt.) finished the meet second in the high jump (5’9.25”), while the 4x100 relay team comprised of junior Jason Jan (Basking Ridge, N.J.), sophomore Daniel Bent (Marshfield, Mass.) and rookies Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) and Kevin Chu (Burlington, Vt.) placed third with a time of 44.14.
Three other athletes earned fourth place finishes, including senior Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.) in the 1500 (4:00.07), first-year athlete Jason McCallum (San Diego, Calif.) in the long jump (21’2.5”) and classmate Brian Parker (S. Windsor, Conn.) in the triple jump (42’2.75”).
Junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) picked up another win for the Panthers, capturing the 1,500 with a time of 4:38.05. Placing third in that event was junior Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) with a time of 4:45.38. Other top women’s finishers were sophomore Sarah O’Brien (Wellesley, Mass.) in the 800 with a third place finish (2:17.57) and sophomore Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.), who finished fourth in the high jump (5’2.25”).
