The Middlebury College indoor track teams opened their season with competition at the Dartmouth Relays. The Panthers competed against Division I, II and III teams from the U.S. and Canada.
Senior Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.) earned the team’s top performance on the weekend, placing third in the 800 with a time of 1:57.50. Classmate Adam Dede (West Chester, Ohio) earned a sixth place finish for the team in the pole vault, clearing 14’. The mens’ 4x200 relay team of junior Jason Jan (Basking Ridge, N.J.), sophomore Daniel Bent (Marshfield, Mass.) and rookies Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) and Bryan Holtzman (Sudbury, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 1:33.96. The 4x400 squad comprised of Hetzler, Jan, sophomore Louis Cornacchione (Bear Creek Township, Pa.) and senior Connor Wood (Lincolnshire, Ill.) finished sixth in 3:31.58.
Senior Kaitlyn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) earned a seventh place finish for the women in the 800 (2:21.56), while sophomore Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.) was fifth in the high jump (5’2.25”). Senior Allison Astolfi (Merrimack, N.H.) came in fifth for the Panthers in the long jump (16’2.25”), while sophomore Danielle Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) was sixth in the pole vault (10’). The women’s 4x400 relay team of Saldanha, sophomore Molly McLean (East Islip, N.Y.), senior Katy Magill (Boxford, Mass.) and rookie Victoria Sheffield (Seattle, Wash.) placed fifth with a time of 4:15.97.
