Indoor Track Opens Season

The Panther indoor track teams opened up their winter season by taking part in the Dartmouth Relays on Saturday.

Senior Matt Engler (San Diego, Calif.) qualified for the N.E. championships, by placing fifth with a time of 8.66 in the 55-meter hurdles. Junior Pascal Losambe (S. Burlington, Vt.) also qualified with a seventh place finish in the shot put with a toss of 46'1.25". Another solid finish for the men was turned in by the 4x400 relay team comprised of senior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.), sophomore Patrick Swan (Horseheads, N.Y.) and rookies Ben Fowler (Bethesda, Md.) and Max Mckinnon (Norwich, Vt.), who placed fifth in 3:32.

Sophomore Jen Currie (Milton, Vt.) qualified for the N.E. Championships with a 10th place finish in the 20-pound weight throw (43'0.5"). Also qualifying were first-year athlete Emily Coles (Slingerlands, N.Y.) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.75) and the 60-meter dash (8.25), and fellow rookie Jen Katz (Winchester, Mass.) in the 60-meter dash (8.20). The 4x200 relay team of Coles, Katz and first-year racers Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) and Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) finished in seventh place with a time of 1:51.75.
