Middlebury Competes In Montreal

The Middlebury College indoor track teams were north of the border over the weekend, taking part in the McGill Team Challenge. Twenty-six teams were on hand at the event, with the Panthers the only team representing the U.S.

Sophomore Jen Currie (Milton, Vt.) was the women's top finisher, placing second in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 43'10.5". Finishing in fifth place in the 1000 with a time of 3:09.42 was Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.), while first-year racer Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.58.

On the men's side, senior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.) and sophomore Patrick Swan (Horseheads, N.Y.) had solid finishes in the 300 and 600. Bright was 12th (36.39) in the 300 and eighth (1:23.86) in the 600, while Swan came in 13th (36.49) in the 300 and 15th (1:24.52) in the 600. Placing sixth, and setting a new school record in the 3000, was junior Will McDonough (Lancaster, N.H.), with a time of 8:47.43. Junior Pascal Losambe (S. Burlington, Vt.) also turned in a pair of solid performances in the shot put and 35-pound weight throw. He finished the afternoon second in the S.P. (42'11") and third in the weight throw (39'3.25").
