Indoor Track Competes At N.E.'s

The Middlebury College indoor track teams were in action at the indoor championships over the weekend. The women finished 12th of 22 teams at Bowdoin, while the men were 16th out of 24 teams competing at M.I.T. Top eight finishers in each even earned All-New England honors.

First-year racer Jen Katz (Winchester, Mass.) again broke her own school records in both the 55 and 200-meter races. Katz placed fourth with a time of 7.43 seconds in the 55 and fourth with a time of 26.38 in the 200. Also with a pair of top eight finishes was rookie Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.), who placed fourth (8.79) in the 55-meter hurdles and eight in the long jump (15'11").

Also earning All-New England status were first-year racer Emer Feighery (Westborough, Mass.) in the pole vault (10'.75"/fourth), rookie Simone Weisman (Newton, Mass.) in the 600 (1:41.07/6th), sophomore Sarah Wilson (Winchester, Mass.) in the pole vault (9'7"/7th) and first-year racer Emily Coles (Slingerlands, N.Y.) in the 55-meter dash (7.56/8th).

On the men's side, the DMR team of senior Kevin Bright (Sharon, Mass.), junior Will McDonough (Lancaster, N.H.) and sophomores Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) and Patrick Swan (Horseheads, N.Y.) finished second overall with a time of 10:30.65.

Bright finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 50.69 seconds, while Swan placed seventh in the 600 in 1:24.04.
