Middlebury College women's tennis player Christina Puccinelli (New York, N.Y.) has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selection by the organization. Puccinelli has guided the Panthers to a single-program record 18 wins (18-2) in 2019 and the program's fifth-consecutive NCAA Quarterfinal appearance next week in Michigan.
Puccinelli owns a 3.98 grade point average as a mathematics major at Middlebury. She was selected as the 2018 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. The two-time All-NESCAC honoree heads into the NCAA Quarterfinals with a team-high 20 wins (20-3) this season and a 13-2 mark in No. 3 position. The 2017 All-American goes into the quarterfinal round picking up wins in 10 of her last 11 matches. Puccinelli has an impressive 68-23 record during her career individually as a Panther, entering Monday's play ranked eighth in the ITA Northeast Region.
Puccinelli will now be placed on a national ballot with the Academic All-American team slated to be released on June 21.
