Fifth-Ranked Middlebury Eases Past Host Redlands

The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team cruised past Redlands by an 8-1 score on Friday in a match played at the Verdieck Courts in Redlands, California. The Panthers (6-0) conclude their matches out west when they compete at second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. eastern.

Middlebury grabbed two of three points during a trio of tight-contested doubles matches. The No. 3 duo of Maddi Stow and Nora Dahl earned an 8-6 victory over Kate Dolan and Lexi Lehman, while the middle tandem of Heather Boehm and Ann Martin Skelly tallied an 8-5 win against Karen Kobayashi. The Bulldogs recorded their lone point with an 8-6 victory in the top flight.

In singles action, the Panthers claimed all six flights in straight sets. Boehm didn't surrender a game against Mia Fitzgerald at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0), while Emily Bian made the score 4-1 in favor of the visitors with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Madison Ross. Stow clinched the match for Middlebury via a 6-0, 6-2 triumph against Halle Martinucci in the fifth spot.

The final three wins were tallied by Katherine Hughes atop the lineup over Lacy (6-1, 6-4), Skylar Schossberger at No. 4 against Lehman (6-3, 6-4) and Christina Puccinelli one spot above over Kobayashi (6-3, 6-2) for the final 8-1 score.
