  • Middlebury To Host Summer ITA Event

    Middlebury College is hosting its second Summer ITA Tennis Tournament. Students from 22 Colleges and Universities will be competing in this year’s event, as well as high school players from across the region from July 20-22.
  • Leung Wins Honda Award

    Middlebury College women’s tennis player Lok Sze Leung (Hong Kong) has been named the NCAA women’s tennis winner of the Honda Sports Award. The honor is presented annually to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. As a Honda prize recipient, Leung becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious Honda Cup.
  • Leung Wins NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship

    Middlebury College’s Loz-Sze Leung has captured the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship. The sophomore earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kristin Lim of Claremont in the title match. Competition took place at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Leung becomes Middlebury’s second women’s tennis singles champion, with Helen Motter taking home the title in ’93.
  • Women's Tennis - Leung Advances To Finals

    Action continued on day two of the NCAA singles and doubles championships taking place at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Middlebury’s Lok-Sze Leung advanced to the NCAA Championship match after picking up a pair of wins on Friday. Leung had little trouble with Katie Cecil of Carnegie Mellon in the quarterfinals, picking up a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

  • Women's Tennis Falls In NCAA Quarters

    The Middlebury women’s tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-2 loss to #4 Emory in an NCAA Quarterfinal match-up in Kalamazoo, Mich. The eighth-ranked Panthers end their season with a 13-7 mark, while the Eagles improve to 17-4.
  • Women's Tennis Set For NCAA Weekend

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team is making its 10th  trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last 11 years. The Panthers will meet Emory in a quarterfinal match on Monday, May 20th at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Middlebury is making its first trip to the quarterfinal round since ’07.
  • Women's Tennis Players Earn ITA Honors

    Two Middlebury College women’s tennis players were recently honored with the International Tennis Association (ITA) announced its regional awards. First-year player Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas) was named the Northeast Rookie of the Year, while senior Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) earned the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship award.

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team took a 4-1 lead and held off a late Bowdoin rally in an eventual 5-3 win in the Regional Finals of the NCAA Division Tournament Sunday afternoon at Maine Pines Tennis Club. The Panthers (13-6) advance to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals to be held May 20 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
  • Women's Tennis Tops MIT In NCAA Play

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team rallied in a pair of doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead at the break en route to a 5-0 win over MIT in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday afternoon at Falmouth Tennis Club. The sixth-ranked Panthers (12-6) earn a rematch with Bowdoin in Sunday's Regional Final.
  • Women's Tennis Players Earn NESCAC Honors - Leung Is Player Of The Year

    Four members of the Middlebury College women’s tennis team were honored when the NESCAC announced its all-conference teams. Sophomore Lok-Sze Leung (Hong Kong) earned NESCAC Player of the Year honors for the second straight year, while also holding down a spot on the first-team. Rookie Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas) earned second-team honors, as did the doubles duo of seniors Brittney Faber (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.).

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team will make its 10th  trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last 11 years when they travel to Bowdoin for an NCAA Regional from May 10-12. Middlebury will take on the winner of the MIT/Simmons match on Saturday, May 11th at 2:30 p.m., while Bowdoin meets the Bridgewater/Endicott winner at 11:00 a.m.

    Caroline Richman pulled out the decisive three-set win at fourth singles to end a thrilling semifinal and lift top-ranked Amherst past sixth-ranked Middlebury and into the NESCAC title match, 5-4, on Saturday. 
  • Women's Tennis Earns NESCAC First-Round Win

    Taking two of three doubles matches, the fourth-seeded Middlebury Panthers cruised to a 5-1 first round victory over fifth-seeded Tufts (8-9) in a NESCAC quarterfinal match at Amherst. The Panthers (11-5) will take on the top-seeded Jeffs at 1:00 on Saturday.

    Middlebury will look for its first NESCAC Championship with the travel to Amherst for the 2013 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championship. Action gets underway Friday, May 3 with first round matches featuring Trinity against Bowdoin and Tufts vs. Middlebury. 
  • Women's Tennis Edged By Amherst

    In a battle of two of the nation’s best teams, top-ranked Amherst (17-1, 9-0) edged out a 5-4 victory over third-ranked Middlebury (10-5, 6-2) in women’s tennis action. The match marked the final one of the regular season for both teams, as action continues this weekend at the NESCAC Championship.

    The third-ranked Middlebury women’s tennis team had little trouble with Skidmore (9-7) on Saturday, topping the Thoroughbreds by a score of 9-0. The Panthers (10-4) wrap up their regular season on Sunday when they host top-ranked Amherst at 1:00 p.m.

    Third-ranked Middlebury earned a 7-2 NESCAC victory at #20 Tufts in a match played on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in NESCAC play. The Jumbos move to 6-7, 3-3 in the league.
  • Women's Tennis Has Little Trouble With Colby

    Ria Gerger won in three sets at first singles and was a winner at first doubles with Lok-Sze Leung for Middlebury, as the Panthers picked up a 9-0 win at Colby (10-5, 1-3). Gerger took a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win over Tess Perese in a lengthy singles match in the top spot. Middlebury (8-4 overall, 5-1 NESCAC) also received a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 comeback win for Sarah Macy at fourth singles.

    The torrid schedule continued for the Middlebury women’s tennis team, as the third-ranked Panthers (7-4, 4-1) dropped a 5-4 NESCAC match at ninth-ranked Bowdoin (10-3, 4-3) on Saturday afternoon. Nine of Middlebury’s 10 Division III matches this season have come against ranked teams, including five in the top 11.

    The Middlebury women's tennis team had little trouble with Wesleyan, as the ninth-ranked Panthers (8-3) picked up a 9-0 win over the 2-7 Cardinals. Middlebury swept through the doubles matches, before taking five of six singles contests in straight sets.

    The Middlebury women’s tennis team dropped its first home match of the spring, falling 7-2 to third-ranked Emory. The ninth-ranked Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Wesleyan.

    The ninth-ranked Middlebury women’s tennis team enjoyed a successful spring break trip to California, earning a record of 3-2. The Panthers took on four teams ranked in the top 12 nationally during their trip, as well as Division I Cal. State Northridge.
  • Women's Tennis Opens Spring With Three Wins

    The Middlebury College women’s tennis team opened up its spring season with three indoor matches. The sixth-ranked Panthers had little trouble, winning 20 of 24 contest over the weekend. Middlebury returns to action in California on March 23rd during its annual spring break trip.

    The Middlebury women's tennis team hosted the Panther Team Cup on campus over the weekend. The Panthers, along with several Division I schools, competed in three-point matches, with duos earning a point for a singles win as well as one for a doubles victory. Middlebury's Lok-Sze Leung and Ria Gerger defeated Marissa Aviles and Maria Bernandez of Providence 2-0 in the finals, with the doubles match not contested.

    The Middlebury women's tennis team competed at the NEWITT (New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament) hosted by Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Amherst. The format of the tournament saw three-point matches, with duos earning a point for a singles win as well as one for a doubles victory.

    Middlebury's Lok-Sze Leung came up one match shy of repeating as the Division III ITA singles champion. The Panther sophomore fell to Gabrielle Clark of Emory in the finals on Saturday, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. The match took place at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.

    After winning the ITA singles championship last fall during her rookie season, Middlebury sophomore Lok-Sze Leung will look to defend her title this weekend in Alabama. The sophomore will take part in the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships, held October 11-14 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
