  • Three Women's Tennis Players Deemed All-Americans
    May 30, 2011
    Three Middlebury women's tennis players earned All-American honors with their performances at the 2011 NCAA Championships. Junior Victoria Aiello (Milton, Mass.) accomplished the feat for the third time in her career, advancing to the quarterfinals in singles play at the NCAA’s. Sophomores Brittney Faber (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) were also deemed All-Americans, advancing to the quarters in doubles play.
  • Individuals Compete At NCAA Women's Tennis Championships

    Action is underway at the 2011 NCAA Tennis singles and doubles championships hosted by Claremont and Pomona-Pitzer in California. On day one, Victoria Aiello came from a set down to advance to the quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Laura Chen of Carnegie Mellon.
  • Three Women's Tennis Players Headed To NCAA's

    Three members of the Middlebury College women’s tennis team will represent the squad at the NCAA Individual/Doubles Championships from May 26-28. Matches will take place at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center and Pauley Tennis Complex in Claremont, California. Claremont and Pomona-Pitzer will serve as the host schools.

    Three members of the Middlebury College women's tennis team have earned first-team All-NESCAC honors. Junior Victoria Aiello (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) earned the honor in singles, while Kepping and her doubles partner, sophomore Brittany Faber (Minnetonka, Minn.) earned doubles honors.

    The Middlebury women’s tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-0 loss at Amherst in the NCAA Regional Finals. The Jeffs continued their postseason run and head to the national quarterfinals with an 18-2 record, while the Panthers end their season at 11-6.

    Amherst defeated Middlebury (10-5) by a score of 5-3 in the NESCAC Semifinals in a contest played at Middlebury College. The Jeffs (16-1) advance to Sunday’s title match at 1:00 p.m. against the winner of the Williams/Tufts contest.

    Middlebury will host the 2011 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship on campus from May 6-8. Action begins this Friday with first round matches featuring fourth-seeded Middlebury taking on fifth-seeded Bowdoin at 1:00 p.m., followed by third-seeded Tufts against.

    Amherst finished the NESCAC regular season unbeaten as the top-ranked Jeffs (15-1, 8-0) defeated #10 Middlebury (9-4, 4-3) by a score of 8-1. The Jeffs win their 11th straight match, while the Panthers have now dropped three of four. Both teams return to action this weekend when Middlebury hosts the 2011 NESCAC Championship.

    The Middlebury women’s tennis team played its final non-league match of the season, topping #29 Skidmore 9-0 (8-8) on Saturday. The 10th-ranked Panthers (10-3) return to action on Sunday when they host Amherst in the NESCAC regular season finale for both teams.

    The Middlebury women's tennis team improved to 6-1 overall, 2-0 in NESCAC play, with a 9-0 blanking at Hamilton (5-3, 0-1) on Sunday. The 10th-ranked Panthers had little trouble with the Continentals, winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

The week opened with a battle against top-ranked Emory, with Middlebury falling by a score of 6-3. Junior Anna Burke (Summit, N.J.) and sophomore Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) picked up singles wins for the Panthers.

    The Panther women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 win over #20 Rochester in an indoor match played on Saturday. Middlebury entered the match ranked 12th nationally, having little trouble in doubles play, dropping just four games.

    The 12th-ranked Panther women’s tennis team began its spring season with a pair of indoor wins at home on Saturday. Middlebury picked up an 8-1 win over Brandeis, while earning a shutout victory over Connecticut College by a score of 9-0.
  • Women's Tennis Competes At NEWITT

    The Panther women's tennis team ended its fall season by competing at the NEWITT (New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament) hosted by Smith and Mt. Holyoke.  Thirty-two team brackets were set up, with each pair playing two singles and one doubles match against their opponents. The team that took two of three matches advanced to the next round of play.

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team hosted the fourth annual Gail Smith Doubles Tournament on campus. Thirty doubles teams from five different schools competed in the tournament, honoring long-time Middlebury coach and administrator Gail Smith.

    The Middlebury women's tennis team began its fall season with a trip to Williams to compete with Vassar, Skidmore and the host school. The round robin style play gave players plenty of match experience as they prepare for the ITAs later this fall.
