Middlebury has advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second time in three years after a 5-0 win at Bowdoin in an NCAA Regional Final. The Panthers advance to the championship weekend from May 15-20th at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
The Panthers took a commanding lead after doubles play, earning all three points thanks to Amy Roche and Claire Smyser's close-fought 8-6 decision at #1 over Polar Bears Sarah D'Elia and Kristen Raymond.
Middlebury's #2 and #3 teams of Emily Holick/Clare Burke and Elizabeth Stone/Elizabeth Emery both earned 8-4 wins, putting the Panthers in great position heading into singles play.
In singles, Middlebury got the clinching points quickly with wins from Emery (#3, 6-1, 6-1) and simultaneously-ending victories from Holick (#5, 6-1, 6-3) and Burke (#6, 6-4, 6-1).
