  • Women's Tennis NESCAC Honors - Roche Headed To NCAA's

    Three members of the Middlebury College women's tennis team were honored today when the All-NESCAC selections were announced. Junior Amy Roche (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) earned first-team honors in singles, while being named to the second-team in doubles along with her partner, first-year player Elizabeth Emery (McLean, Va.). Earning second-team honors in singles play was sophomore Amanda Berck (Roslyn, N.Y.).

    Middlebury saw its season come to an end as they fell 5-4 at Williams in an NCAA Regional final match-up. The match was the fourth 5-4 match against the Ephs this season, with Williams coming away with three of the four contests. The Panthers end their season at 11-7.

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final after a 5-0 win over Wellesley at Williams. The Panthers will take on the Ephs Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the regional final.

    The Panther women's tennis team will make its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament when they travel to Williams for a regional this weekend. Middlebury will take on Wellesley at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5th, while Williams meets Vassar at 1:00 p.m. The winners meet in the regional final on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Amherst will look to capture its third consecutive NESCAC Women's Tennis title this weekend when the Jeffs join five other squads at Williams for a chance to claim the 2006 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship.

    The Middlebury College women's tennis team won its only match of the week as they picked up a 5-4 win at #23 Bowdoin. The ninth-ranked Panthers fell behind 3-0 after doubles play and then trailed 4-1 before coming back to win the match.

    The Panther women's tennis team convincingly won its only match of the week as they picked up an 8-1 win over Connecticut College in the team's home-opener. Ninth-ranked Middlebury lost only 72 of 84 singles points on the day, dropping only the #1 doubles match.

    The Panther women's tennis team won two of four matches played on their southern trip during spring break. Ninth-ranked Middlebury defeated St. Lawrence 8-1 and topped the University of Chicago 6-3, before falling 7-2 to #2 W&L and 6-2 to #1 Emory.

Junior Emily Holick (Sudbury, Mass.), sophomores Amanda Berck (Roslyn, N.Y.) and Amy Berkman (Shelburne, Vt.) along with first-year players Clare Burke (Summit, N.J.), Elizabeth Stone (Cohasset, Mass.) and Chandra Kurien (Fairfield, Conn.) all earned wins.
