  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Teams Announced
    March 13, 2019
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection.
  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2018-19 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 124 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • VanderMeer Earns All-NESCAC Accolades

    Middlebury College women's swimmer Frances VanderMeer (Elmira, N.Y.) has earned All-NESCAC accolades for her efforts in the pool. The honor is given to the top-three finishers in each event during the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships held in the Wesleyan University Natatorium. The accolades mark the third-straight year that she has earned the league’s laurels.
  • Panther Women Finish Eighth at NESCAC Championships

    Middlebury finished in eighth place overall at the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships contested in Wesleyan University’s Natatorium. Williams captured its sixth-consecutive title, amassing 1,873 points during the meet. Tufts ended up in second place with 1,439.5 points, followed by Amherst (1,322 points) in the third spot. The Panthers accumulated 730 points over the course of the event.
  • Panther Women Post Strong Efforts During NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury women’s swimming and diving team remained in eighth place following the second full day of the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship held at Wesleyan University’s Natatorium. Williams remained atop the team standings with a total of 1,331 points, while Tufts sits in second place (1,063.5) and Amherst (947) is in third. Middlebury has racked up 524 points with one day of competition remaining.
  • VanderMeer’s Win Highlights Day One of NESCAC Meet

    Aided by a victory from Frances VanderMeer during day one of the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, Middlebury sits in eighth place among 11 teams competing. The championship meet is being held in the Wesleyan University Natatorium. Williams leads the way with 781 points, while Tufts (641) and Amherst (590) round out the top three. The Panthers have 359 points following Friday’s action.
  • Panther Women’s Swimming & Diving Eyes NESCAC Title

    Middlebury will challenge for a conference title when the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships begin on Thursday, February 14, with the finals of the 800 freestyle relay. This year, the championships move to a four-day format as the 800 freestyle relay was shifted to Thursday night. The Wesleyan Natatorium on the campus of Wesleyan University will host the 24-event competition.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Hosts Annual Middlebury Invitational

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams hosted the two-day Middlebury Invitational on Friday and Saturday inside the natatorium. The event featured no team scores as Williams, the University of Vermont and the Panthers took part in the meet. Middlebury will have a couple weeks off from competition before hitting the pool for the NESCAC Championships. The women's meet will take place February 15-17 at Wesleyan, while the men's championship will be hosted by the Panthers from February 22-24.

  • Swimming & Diving Hosts Williams, Hamilton in Tri-Meet
    January 26, 2019
    The Panther swimming and diving teams concluded their dual meet portion of the schedule when they hosted a tri-meet with Hamilton and Williams. The Middlebury women defeated the Continentals by a score of 222-77, but fell to the sixth-ranked Ephs 171-122, while the men bested Hamilton 212-66 and were defeated by No. 19 Williams 164-110. Middlebury returns to action on Friday and Saturday when it hosts the annual Middlebury Invitational. Action begins on Friday at 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's events are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
  • Panthers Cruise Past Union in Road Meet

    The Panther swimming and diving teams got back on the winning track with road dual meet wins at Union. The men eased past the host Dutchmen by a 190-76 score, while the women cruised over the Dutchwomen, 194-87. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Hamilton and Williams for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
  • Panthers Conclude Home Weekend With Bates
    January 13, 2019
    The Panther swimming and diving teams wrapped up their first weekend of the second semester with a home meet against Bates. The women fell to the 25th-ranked Bobcats by a 163.5-130.5 score, while the men were defeated 192-102. Middlebury returns to action Saturday when it travels to Union with competition beginning at 2:00 p.m.
  • Swimming & Diving Teams Begin Semester With Home Meet Against Colby
    January 12, 2019
    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened their second semesters with a home meet on Saturday afternoon against Colby. The women were victorious by a 204-95 score, while the men fell by a 167-131 count. Middlebury returns to action Sunday with a home meet against Bates scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
  • Panther Swimming & Diving Sweeps Springfield
    December 08, 2018
    The Panther swimming and diving teams concluded the first semester by squaring off with host Springfield on Saturday in a dual meet. Both squads earned their first wins of the season, as the men defeated the Pride by a 156-138 score, while the women edged the hosts, 155.5-144.5. The Panthers take a break for the holidays before returning to action on Saturday, January 12, when they host Colby in a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Host NESCAC Foe Amherst in Dual Meet
    December 01, 2018
    The Panther swimming and diving teams returned to action when they hosted Amherst on Saturday. The women fell by a 227-73 count to the Mammoths, while the men were defeated by Amherst, 224-73. Middlebury will complete first-semester competition next Saturday when it travels to Springfield for a dual meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Concludes Opening Road Weekend at Tufts
    November 18, 2018
    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams ended their respective opening weekends with a road dual meet Sunday at Tufts. The women fell to the 22nd-ranked Jumbos by a 167-116 count, while the men were defeated by 15th-ranked Tufts, 168-89. The Panthers return to the pool on Saturday, December 1 when they host a dual meet against Amherst.
  • Swim & Dive Teams Open Season With Meet Versus Conn. College
    November 17, 2018
    The Panther swimming and diving teams opened up their respective 2018-19 seasons with a road meet on Saturday at Connecticut College. The Middlebury women fell to the Camels by a 175-119 tally, while the men were defeated, 163-99. The Panthers return to the pool on Sunday with a road meet against Tufts beginning at 11:00 a.m.

    Fueled by All-Americans as well as record holders who return to the Middlebury swimming & diving programs, the teams have optimistic goals to compete at the national level, while looking to continue to ascend up the standings at the NESCAC Championship meets in 2018-19.
  • O’Leary, Rueppel Named Assistant Swimming Coaches
    November 14, 2018
    Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Nora O’Leary ’17 and Colleen Rueppel as assistant swimming coaches. O’Leary graduated from Middlebury in 2017 with a degree in teacher education, while Rueppel joins the program after spending the 2016-17 season as an assistant coach at Emory & Henry (Va.) and various other coaching duties throughout the region.
