  • Middlebury Swimmers Participate in 2011 Ted Mullin “Hour of Power” Relay for Sarcoma Research

    It is nearly impossible to find anyone whose life has not been touched by cancer, whether it is through a friend, family member, or even a teammate. The swimmers at Middlebury have found one more way to fight back: the sixth annual Ted Mullin “Leave It in the Pool” Hour of Power Relay for Sarcoma Research, sponsored by the Carleton College swimming and diving teams, on November 8th.
  • Groff Medals at Worlds, Makes U.S. Olympic Team

    Former Middlebury College swimmer Sarah Groff ’04 earned a bronze medal for the overall 2011 World Championship Series this past weekend (9/10-11) in Beijing, China. She was recently named to the U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team after being the second American finisher (seventh overall) at the recently held World Championship Series in London.
  • Rueppel Named Swimming & Diving Head Coach

    Middlebury College has named Bob Rueppel the new head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming programs as well as the director of the college’s natatorium. Rueppel comes to Middlebury from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn., where he has served as the men’s and women’s coach since 2001.
  • Men's Swimmers Place 10th At NCAA's - Dillon Wins Another Title

    The Middlebury College men’s swimming team placed 10th overall with 126 points among 48 scoring teams at the 2011 NCAA Championships at the University of Tennessee. Denison won the title, knocking off perennial power Kenyon.

    Seven members of the Middlebury College men’s swim team will take part in the 2011 NCAA Championships from March 23-26. Competing a week later than normal, the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the world-class Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

    The Panther men’s swimming and diving team finished fourth overall at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Bowdoin. First-year racer Ian Mackay (Vero Beach, Fla.) won a pair of NESCAC titles, while senior John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) earned one.

  • Tibbetts With Top Performances At NESCACs

    Several members of the Panther women’s swim team took part in the 2011 NESCAC Championships hosted by Williams College over the weekend. First-year racer Andrea Tibbetts (Dover, Mass.) earned three NCAA Qualifying standards, while setting a new school record with a time of 27.03 to place second in the 50 back.

    Williams College will look to add another chapter to its storied legacy this weekend when the Ephs serve as host to the 2011 edition of the NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. The three-day meet begins Friday, Feb. 18 with preliminary heats in the morning and championship races in the evening at the Muir-Samuelson Pool in Williamstown, Mass.
  • Swim Teams Fall To Williams

    The Panther swimming and diving teams were both defeated by Williams on Saturday afternoon. The men fell by a score of 176-121, while the women were topped 199-100. Senior John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) picked up a pair of wins on the afternoon, capturing the 100 back (53.46) and the 100 fly (52.24).
  • Loftus Honored By NESCAC

    Middlebury College women’s swimmer Katherine Loftus (Madison, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Performer of the Week. Loftus helped the Panthers win their fourth consecutive dual meet on Saturday with two individual victories against Union. Loftus took the 200-yard butterfly in 2:10.60 and won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.31. Both times were season-bests for Loftus.

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams took part in a meet on Saturday afternoon at Union. The women picked up a 201-97 win, while the men dropped a tightly-contested 151-147 decision.
  • Swim Teams Top Hamilton

    The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams both picked up road wins over the weekend. The men edged out Hamilton 122-109, while the women came away with a 156-87 victory.
  • Swim Teams Cruise Past Colby/Bates

    The Middlebury swimming and diving teams were impressive on Saturday and Sunday, picking up convincing wins over Colby and Bates. The women were 213-80 winners, while the men earned a 219-58 victory in Saturday's meet with Colby. On Sunday, the women picked up a 188-110 win, while the men were 185-109 victors.
  • Swim Teams Host Amherst

    The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams took on Amherst in their first home meet of the season on Saturday. The Panther men fell 190-105, while the women were defeated 186-111. First-year racer Andrea Tibbetts (Dover, Mass.) won three events for the women, earning a time of 58.72 in the 100 backstroke (NCAA “B” cut), while winning the 200 backstroke in 2:11.18.
  • Swimming & Diving Open Seasons

    The men's and women's swimming and diving opened up their seasons with a meet at Conn. College vs. the Camels and Tufts, as well as a road meet on Sunday at Springfield. The women defeated Tufts, while falling to Conn. and Springfield, while the men dropped all three contests.
