Women’s Squash Blanks Hamilton in Season-Opening Win

Middlebury blanked host Hamilton on Saturday afternoon by a 9-0 score in its season opener in the Little Squash Center. The 14th-ranked Panthers (1-0) return to the courts on Sunday, January 5 when they travel to Williams for a 4:00 p.m. match.

In the win over the Continentals (0-1), the Panthers surrendered just two games. Victories by Gwen Davis at No. 2 (11-5, 11-3, 11-6) over Katherine Hodulik and Caroline Arena in the top spot against Hope Worcester (8-11, 11-, 11-3, 11-7) gave the Panthers a 2-0 advantage. Natasha Lowitt made the score 3-0 in favor of Middlebury with an 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 win at No. 3 against Natalie Harrity.

Wins four through six came from Grace Santoro in the sixth spot over Madison Sakheim (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8), Mira Chugh in the fifth spot against Eleanor Struthers (11-8, 11-4, 11-3) and Anne Glassie at No. 4 over Sydney Soloway (11-4, 11-6, 11-3).

Kieran Suntha in the eighth spot posted an 11-4, 11-7, 11-4 win over Eleanor Arnold, while Maya McDonough made the score 8-0 with an 11-7, 11-5, 11-5 triumph against Daisy Sulavik in the seventh position. Summer Hornbostel completed the sweep with a three-game sweep (11-6, 11-6, 11-1) against Carolina Conzelman in the ninth spot.
