  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team Members Honored
    March 14, 2018
    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2017-18 Winter All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 147 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions
  • NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Winter All-Sportsmanship Team for each winter sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection. 
  • Kuijpers, Bostwick Recipients of All-NESCAC Laurels

    A pair of players from the Middlebury College women's squash team were named to the 2018 NESCAC All-Conference teams. Junior Beatrijs Kuijpers (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a first-team selection for the second-straight year, while senior captain Lucy Bostwick (New Canaan, Conn.) landed a spot on the second team. Middlebury concluded the season with a team record of 12-10, finished third at the NESCAC Championship and placed 15th during last weekend’s CSA Team Championship’s Kurtz Cup.
  • Women's Squash Defeats Amherst at CSA Team Nationals

    The Middlebury women's squash team posted a 6-3 victory on Sunday over Amherst in the Kurtz Cup’s 15th/16th-place match at the CSA National Team Championship. The match took place at Harvard’s Murr Center. The Panthers finish the season ranked 15th-nationally with a record of 12-10.
  • Panthers Fall to Virginia at CSA Team Nationals

    The Middlebury women's squash team fell to #14 Virginia by a 7-2 score on Saturday in the Kurtz Cup consolation semifinal at the CSA Women’s Squash National Team Championship. The three-day event is being hosted by Harvard in the Murr Center. The 15th-ranked Panthers (11-10) return to action Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the 15th/16th-place match against #16 Amherst.
  • Women’s Squash Falls to Dartmouth at CSA Team Nationals

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team fell to #10 Dartmouth by an 8-1 score on Friday in the Kurtz Cup quarterfinal round at the CSA National Team Championship. The event is being hosted by Harvard in the Murr Center. The Panthers (11-9) return to action Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in a consolation semifinal match against #14 Virginia.
  • Women’s Squash Headed to CSA National Team Championships

    The Middlebury women’s squash team has earned the No. 7 seed in the Kurtz Cup (B Division) for the upcoming CSA National Team Championships to be played at Harvard in the Murr Center. The Panthers, ranked 15th overall, will take on 10th-ranked Dartmouth in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. and will continue to play on both Saturday and Sunday to determine their overall finish.
  • Panthers Blanked By #9 Drexel in Regular-Season Finale

    The Middlebury women's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision Sunday at ninth-ranked Drexel during the team's regular-season finale in the Kline & Specter Squash Center. With the setback, the Panthers fall to 11-8 and return to action at the CSA Team Championships from February 16-18 in Boston.
  • Panther Women Defeated By #14 George Washington
    February 10, 2018
    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team fell to #14 George Washington by a 7-2 score Saturday in a match played at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center. The Panthers (11-7) conclude their regular season on Sunday with a 10:30 a.m. match at #9 Drexel.
  • Women’s Squash Cruises Past Georgetown

    Middlebury blanked Georgetown on Friday evening 9-0 in a match played at Navy’s Bancroft Hall Squash Courts. The 15th-ranked Panthers (11-6) return to the courts on Saturday when they play at #14 George Washington at 2:00 p.m.
  • Panthers Edge Amherst in NESCAC Third-Place Match

    The Middlebury women's squash team, seeded third and ranked 15th, finished in third place overall via a narrow 5-4 victory against fourth-seeded and 16th-ranked Amherst (10-6) in the 2018 NESCAC Tournament hosted by Hamilton. With the win, the Panthers improve to 10-6 and return to action on Friday when they take on Georgetown at 5:00 p.m. in a match at Navy.
  • Women’s Squash Advances to NESCAC Semis Before Falling to Williams

    The 15th-ranked Panther women's squash team, seeded #3 in the NESCAC Tournament hosted by Hamilton, advanced into the semifinal round on Saturday before falling to second-seeded and 13th-ranked Williams by a score of 6-3. Middlebury earned a bye through the first round, and posted a narrow 5-4 victory over sixth-seeded and 19th-ranked Bates in the quarterfinal round. The Panthers (9-6) return to play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the third-place match against fourth-seeded Amherst, ranked 16th in the latest national poll.
  • Women’s Squash Aims for NESCAC Title

    Third-seeded Middlebury will be in search of a NESCAC crown this weekend when the three-day 2018 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship begins on Friday. Hamilton’s Little Squash Center will serve as the host for all of this year's championship bracket matches, while Colgate's Huntington Courts will host select consolation matches on Saturday. The NESCAC Championship match will be played on Sunday, February 4 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Panther Women Fall to #16 Virginia
    January 27, 2018
    The 13th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team fell to #16 Virginia by an 8-1 score Saturday in a match played inside Harvard’s Murr Center. The Panthers (8-5) have nearly two weeks off before returning to the court on Friday, February 9 when they play Georgetown at 5:00 p.m. in a match at Navy.
  • Women’s Squash Cruises Past Boston University

    Middlebury blanked Boston University on Friday evening 9-0 in a match played at MIT’s Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Squash Courts. The 13th-ranked Panthers (8-4) return to the courts on Saturday when they play #16 Virginia at 2:00 p.m. in a match contested at Harvard.
  • Panther Women Blanked By #8 Cornell in Home Finale

    The Middlebury women's squash dropped a 9-0 decision Sunday to eighth-ranked Cornell in the team's home finale. The 15th-ranked Panthers (7-4) return to the court on Friday when they play Boston University at MIT beginning at 4:30 p.m.

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team slipped past visiting Franklin & Marshall on Saturday by a 6-3 score. The Panthers (7-3) return to action on Sunday with their home finale against #8 Cornell starting at 12:00 p.m.

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end, falling on the road at #2 Trinity by an 8-1 score Wednesday in the Kellner Squash Center. The Panthers (6-3) return to the court on Saturday when they host #18 Franklin & Marshall at 11:00 a.m.
  • Women's Squash Blanks Colby and Bowdoin In Maine

    Middlebury ran its winning streak to four with a pair of 9-0 victories in women's squash action Saturday in Maine. The 15th-ranked Panthers opened play with a blanking at #22 Colby, followed by a win at Bowdoin. The Panthers (6-2) return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to second-ranked Trinity at 3:00 p.m.
  • #15 Middlebury Gets Past Bates on the Road

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team slipped past host Bates on Friday evening by a 5-4 score in the Bates Squash Center. The Panthers (4-2) return to action on Saturday when they stay in Maine for a 10:00 a.m. match at #22 Colby, followed by a 3:00 p.m. contest at Bowdoin.

    The Middlebury women’s squash team posted a 7-2 home victory on Wednesday afternoon over #16 Amherst. The 15th-ranked Panthers return to the court Friday at 6:30 p.m. when they travel to Maine for a contest at Bates.
  • Women’s Squash Falls at Williams to Start Second Semester

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team began its second-semester action on the road, falling at 14th-ranked Williams by an 8-1 score on Saturday in the Simon Squash Center. The Panthers (2-2) return to action on Wednesday when they entertain #16 Amherst beginning at 1:00 p.m.

    Hope Matthews ’18 is a member of both the Middlebury women’s golf and women’s squash teams. The Greenwich, Connecticut native is majoring in computer science and minoring in geology. It’s an unusual combination, she admits, but one that has added a wonderfully “unexpected twist” to her education.

    The 15th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team concluded its first-semester action at home, falling to 10th-ranked Dartmouth by an 8-1 score on Saturday. The Panthers (2-1) have nearly a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 6 for a road match at Williams beginning at 3:00 p.m.
  • Women’s Squash Starts Season With Pair of Sweeps

    The Middlebury women's squash team began its 2017-18 schedule with two 9-0 victories in which it didn’t surrender a game on Saturday in matches played in Hamilton’s Little Squash Center. The 15th-ranked Panthers started the day with a 9-0 win over the host Continentals, followed by a blanking of 22nd-ranked St. Lawrence. The Panthers (2-0) return to the court next Saturday for their home opener against 10th-ranked Dartmouth at 6:00 p.m.
  • 2017-18 Women's Squash Season Preview

    Following a solid winter on the courts last winter, the Middlebury women’s squash team looks ready to build on those successes in 2017-18. A season ago, the women posted nine team victories against a demanding schedule, including a seven-match winning streak to begin the month of January. The team finished 16th nationally at the conclusion of the 2016-17 campaign and returns seven of the nine regulars to the court this season.
