Women's Squash Winning Streak Reaches Seven

Middlebury ran its winning streak to seven with a pair of victories during women's squash action on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall's Mayser Center. The 15th-ranked Panthers opened action with a narrow 6-3 victory over the 13th-ranked Diplomats, followed by an 8-1 win against #22 Dickinson. After seven matches in the last week, the Panthers (7-2) have nearly a week off before returning to the court on Friday when they host #19 Williams at 5:00 p.m.

In the win over the Diplomats, three-game victories by Lucy Bostwick at #6 (11-7, 11-4, 11-9) and Caroline Jahrling in the eighth spot (11-8, 11-8, 11-1) gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Franklin & Marshall knotted the match with triumphs at #2 and #4.

Middlebury responded with Natasha Lowitt at #9 (11-4, 11-2, 11-9) and Audrey Ellen in the seventh spot (11-8, 11-8, 11-3) giving the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish, 4-2. The Diplomats pulled to within one at 4-3 with a victory at #5, but Beatrijs Kuijpers at #1 scored the match-clinching point in three games (11-45, 11-2, 11-8) and Alexa Comai gave the Panthers their sixth point in the third spot (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8).

Against Dickinson (3-5), Middlebury raced out to a 3-0 advantage behind three-game wins from Jahrling at #8 (11-2, 11-9, 11-7), Bostwick in the sixth spot (11-4, 11-8, 11-4) and Liddy Renner at #4 (11-9, 11-7, 11-5).

The Devils' lone point was posted at #2 in a five-game victory.

The next four wins for the Panthers occurred in three games. Lowitt eased past her opponent at #9 (11-6, 11-1, 11-2), while Mira Chugh was victorious in the fifth spot (11-0, 11-6, 11-9). Ellen made it three-straight wins with a victory at #7 (11-6, 11-5, 11-7, while Comai tallied a win in the third spot (11-9, 11-3, 11-3). Kuijpers concluded the scoring at #1 with a four-game triumph (11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-7).
