#14 Women’s Squash Falls to #15 Franklin & Marshall

The Middlebury women's squash team, ranked #14 in the latest national poll, concluded a busy stretch, losing to 15th-ranked Franklin & Marshall by a 7-2 score on Sunday in a match played at Williams. The Panthers (6-3) have nearly a week off from competition before returning to the court Saturday in a road contest with the 13th-ranked Ephs at 2:00 p.m.

The Diplomats (3-6) took a 3-0 lead with victories at #8, #6 and #2. Middlebury got on the board when Zoe Carey posted a three-game victory by scores of 11-7, 11-8 and 11-7 against Franklin & Marshall's Dulakshi Elikewela in the fourth slot of the ladder. The Diplomats recorded the team victory via three-consecutive victories at #9, #7 and #5, respectively.

The other Panther point was tallied by Beatrijs Kuijpers in four games at #3. Kuijpers lost the opening game to F&M's Emily Caldwell by a 13-11 score, but rebounded to win the next three with ease for the win (11-2, 11-8, 11-5). The Diplomats earned their seventh point at the top of the lineup in a five-game win.
