Women’s Squash Edged by #12 Williams

In a closely-contested match coming down to the final point, the 13th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team fell at home Wednesday evening to #12 Williams by the narrowest of margins, 5-4. The Panthers return to the court Friday when they host 14th-ranked Drexel at 5:00 p.m.

Recording wins for the Panthers were Saskia Pownall-Gray, Anne Wymard and Charlotte Dewey in the top-three slots, while Lucy Bostwick claimed a team point at #8 as each match went four sets.   

With the match between the teams tied at 4-4, Middlebury's Katie Dewey and Williams' Charlotte Walsh took to the court at #7 in search of the decisive team point. Walsh edged Dewey in the first two sets by scores of 12-10 and 11-9. Battling back, Dewey pulled to within a set, winning the third 11-8, but Walsh won the fourth set by an 11-3 score and grabbed the clinching point.
