Abby Jenkins captured the inaugural Division III Singles Invitational hosted by Bowdoin College. She entered the 32-person bracket ranked third, breezing through the tourney with just one game lost. Jenkins defeated Randima Ranaweera of Mt. Holyoke 11-5, 11-8 and 11-9 to win the “A” division singles title. She earned 3-0 wins in the first and second rounds, before topping teammate Zoe Carey 11-3, 8-11, 11-4 and 11-1 in the quarters. Carey advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 3-1 first-round win and a 3-2 victory in the second round of play.
Charlotte Dewey also turned in a strong performance, advancing to the semifinal round. She was a 3-0 winner in the first two rounds, before picking up a 3-2 victory in the quarters.
Saskia Pownall-Gray had the tournament's biggest upset, defeating Williams’ #1 player Alyssa Northrop in the second round, in a dramatic five-game match: 7-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7. Entering the tourney in the 29th slot, Pownall-Gray eventually fell in the quarterfinal round.
