  • New Squash Facility Progressing

    Middlebury's new squash facility is coming along nicely as the summer comes to an end. The building is expected to open in mid-October, with nine new squash courts as well as an impressive full glass front lobby. Check out the photo gallery below for some recent photos.
  • Women's Squash Players Earn NESCAC Honors

    Three members of the Middlebury College women’s squash team were honored when the NESCAC announced its All-Conference team. Sophomore Charlotte Dewey (Greenwich, Conn.) was named to the first-team, while junior Abby Jenkins (Latham, N.Y.) and sophomore Anne Wymard (Radnor, Pa.) earned second-team honors. Middlebury finished the season with a record of 16-6, ending up the year ranked 12th nationally.
  • Women's Squash Finishes 12th Nationally

    The Middlebury women’s squash team finished up its season ranked 12th nationally, earning a 16-6 mark. The Panthers competed in the Kurtz Cup, for teams ranked 9-16 nationally at Yale.
  • Women's Squash Headed To Nationals

    The Middlebury women's squash team has earned the second seed in the Kurtz Cup (B Division) for the upcoming Team Nationals hosted by Yale. The Panthers, ranked 11th overall, will take on 14th-ranked Franklin & Marshall in a quarterfinal match on Friday, February 15th at 4:00 p.m. Middlebury enters the weekend with a 15-4 overall record this season.
  • Weather Forces Several Postponements - UPDATED AGAIN!

    Due to the impending storm expected to blanket the northeast, several schedule changes have occurred for Middlebury College Athletic events. The men’s and women’s NESCAC basketball games scheduled for Friday, February 8th vs. Trinity have been moved to Sunday, February 10th. The men will play at 5:00 and the women will follow at 7:00. Saturday’s games vs. Amherst have now also been postponed. The men’s game will be made up on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m., while the women will play on Wednesday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. 
  • Women's Squash Blanks St. Lawrence

    The Middlebury women’s squash team improved to 15-4 on the season with a 9-0 win at 28th-ranked St. Lawrence on Tuesday. The Panthers, now ranked 11th nationally will return to action at the national team tournament from February 15th-17th at Yale.
  • Women's Squash Places Third At NESCAC Championship

    The Middlebury women’s squash team finished up the NESCAC Championship weekend with a third place finish. The 11th-ranked Panthers earned a first-round bye, topping #17 Bowdoin 9-0 in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Later that afternoon, Middlebury fell by a score of 6-3 to 10th-ranked Williams in the semifinals. The Panthers bounced back on Sunday, earning the third place finish with a 6-3 victory over #15 Bates. Host Trinity won its seventh straight title.
  • Women's Squash To Battle For NESCAC Title

    Top-seeded Trinity will be in pursuit of a seventh conference title this weekend when it hosts the 2013 NESCAC Women’s Squash Championship. The three-day tournament is slated to get underway on Friday and continue through the weekend. Trinity’s George A. Kellner Squash Center will serve as the host for this year’s championship bracket matches, while select consolation matches will take place at Wesleyan’s Rosenbaum Squash Center.
  • Women's Squash Defeats Columbia

    The Panther women’s squash team earned a 6-3 victory at home on Saturday afternoon, topping 12th-ranked Columbia, 6-3. The 11th-ranked Panthers saw all nine of the matches go to extended games, as they pulled out the hard-fought win.

    The Middlebury women’s squash team took on some stiff competition last weekend at the Yale Round Robin. The 11th-ranked Panthers opened with a 9-0 loss to #3 Yale before bouncing back with a 9-0 blanking of #15 Franklin and Marshall. Middlebury ended the weekend with another tough match, falling to #6 Cornell, 9-0.

    The Panther women’s squash team improved to 10-1 overall with a 9-0 win over 16th-ranked Hamilton in a home match. Middlebury, ranked 11th nationally, dropped just two games in the contest, both of them coming in the #9 slot. The Panthers return to action this weekend with three matches at Yale.
  • Women's Squash Earns Two Wins In Three Contests

    The 11th-ranked Middlebury women’s squash team went 2-1 over a three-match span last week. The Panthers suffered a tight 5-4 loss to #10 Williams at home on Friday afternoon to begin weekend play. The Panthers came back strong on Sunday, winning 7-2 at #19 Amherst, while topping Connecticut College by a score of 9-0.
  • Illig Earns 500th Career Win

    Middlebury College squash coach John Illig recently earned his 500th career win as an intercollegiate coach. Now in his sixth year at Middlebury, his career record now stands at 506-314 over 22 years of coaching squash. He spent his first five years coaching at Colby, before taking over the job at Bates in ’96-’97. Following 11 years as a Bobcat, Illig took over coaching duties at Middlebury in ’07-’08.
  • Women's Squash With Home Win Over Mt. Holyoke
    January 10, 2013
    The Middlebury women’s squash team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 7-2 victory over #17 Mt. Holyoke in a match played on campus. The Panthers return to action on Friday when they host Williams at 4:00 p.m. Middlebury dropped just four games in the first three slots, sweeping the rest of the matches 3-0.
  • Women's Squash Tops Bowdoin & Colby, 8-1

    The 11th-ranked Panther women’s squash team returned from the break with a pair of convincing wins at the Williams round robin. Middlebury handed #20 Bowdoin an 8-1 loss, while topping 21st-ranked Colby by the same score. The Panthers are now ranked third nationally in the new Division III poll. 
  • Women's Squash Downs Drexel

    The Middlebury women’s squash team won its only match of the week as the 11th-ranked Panthers earned a 7-2 victory over #23 Drexel at home on Sunday. Middlebury had little trouble in the match, earning five three-set victories as well as wins in all three exhibition matches. The Panthers are now idle until they return to action in January at the Williams Round Robin.
  • Women's Squash Opens 3-0
    November 17, 2012
    The Middlebury women’s squash team opened up its ’12-’13 season with three wins at the MIT Round Robin. The 11th-ranked Panthers had little trouble with any of their opponents, picking up 9-0 victories over Wellesley, #18 Wesleyan and Northeastern. Sophomore Charlotte Dewey made her debut at #1 for the Panthers, going 3-0 on the weekend.
