Women's Squash Players Named All-NESCAC

Two members of the Middlebury College women's squash team recently earned first-team All-NESCAC honors when the league announced the squad. Junior Elena Laird (Cambridge, Mass.) and first-year player Abby Jenkins (Latham, N.Y.) both earned the honor. The duo recently helped lead the team to an 18-6 record and a final ranking of 13th nationally.

Laird played #1 for Middlebury all season long, finishing with a 10-11 mark against teams from Division I, II and III. Her best wins of the season came in defeating Brown University #1 Sarah Crosky:  9-11, 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 and the Columbia University #1 Elizabeth Chu. Laird was also a first-team All-NESCAC selection in '08-'09 when she played for Bowdoin before transferring to Middlebury.

Jenkins played in the #2 slot all season for the Panthers as a rookie. She finished the year at 20-8, winning 16 of her first 17 collegiate matches. Along with Laird, she also qualified for nationals this season, going 2-2 at the event.
