  • Shannon & Tilney Earn NESCAC Honors

    Two members of the Middlebury women's squash team earned All-NESCAC honors when the league released its post-season team. Senior Avery Tilney (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior Virginia Shannon (Cambridge, Mass.) were both named to the league's second team.

    Avery Tilney and Kathryn Bostwick recently represented Middlebury at the Individual Championships hosted by Trinity College. Tilney won a first round match and advanced to the round of 23, while Bostwick lost her first round match-up. COMPLETE BRACKET
  • Women's Squash Finishes 14th Nationally

    The Panther women's squash team finished the season ranked 14th nationally, finishing in sixth place in the Kurtz Division ("B") at the recent team championships hosted by Yale. The Panthers opened with a 6-3 loss to Mt. Holyoke, before bouncing back with a 6-3 win over Colby. The season ended with a 6-3 loss to Amherst. The team ends the year with a school-record 20 wins against just nine losses.

    The Panther women’s squash team was impressive at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Trinity over the weekend. Middlebury earned a first-round bye, before picking up a 6-3 win over Amherst in the quarterfinal round.
  • Women's Squash Heads To NESCAC Tourney

    Three-time defending conference champion Trinity College will be in pursuit of a fourth NESCAC title this weekend during the 2010 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship. The three-day tournament kicks off on Friday afternoon with first round action at Trinity's George A. Kellner Squash Center in Hartford, Conn. The event continues throughout the weekend with championship bracket matches taking place at Trinity and consolation matches at Wesleyan's Rosenbaum Squash Center. The 2010 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 7, with the final taking place at 1:30 p.m.
  • Women's Squash Returns Home

    The Middlebury women's squash team returned home from a lengthy road trip that saw them play six matches over three days in four different states. The 13th ranked Panthers went 4-2 on the trip, with some impressive results. The trip opened with a 9-0 loss to #6 Stanford at Williams.
  • Middlebury Goes 2-2 Over Four-Match Span

    The 13th ranked Middlebury women's squash team had another busy weekend, with four matches taking place over three days.  The Panthers played all weekend without #1 Avery Tilney, who was out with an injury. Friday night, Middlebury hosted St. Lawrence, defeating the Saints, 9-0.
  • Women's Squash Wins Five at Yale Round Robin

    The Middlebury College women's squash team had an impressive week, improving to 12-1 overall with five more victories at the Yale Round Robin. The 14th-ranked Panthers have now won a dozen straight matches after a season-opening loss. Middlebury opened the weekend with a 7-2 win over #23 George Washington, before topping #21 Franklin & Marshall, 8-1. The following day, Middlebury earned 8-1 wins over #15 Bowdoin, #20 Colby and #28 Northeastern.
  • Women's Squash Defeats Amherst

    The Middlebury women's squash team opened up its second semester with a 7-2 win over Amherst. The Panthers have now won seven in a row as they defeated the Jeffs on campus.
  • Women's Squash Wins Five Matches

    The Panther women's squash team has won six of seven matches to open the season, earning five more victories last week. Middlebury had little trouble at the Wesleyan Round Robin, taking four matches on Saturday. The Panthers earned 9-0 wins over Wesleyan and Wellesley, while topping Northeastern and Smith, 8-1. Middlebury returned home to defeat the University of Vermont on Sunday, 9-0.
  • Women's Squash Opens Season

    The Middlebury College women's squash team began the '09-'10 season with a pair of matches played at Williams. The Panthers fell to Williams 9-0 before defeating Tufts by the same score later in the day. Middlebury was without its #1 player over the weekend, as well as another starter, but still played well and blanked Tufts. Middlebury, who lost to the Jumbos by a score of 8-1 just two years ago, showed much-improved with the decisive win. The Panthers entered the weekend ranked 13th of 35 teams in the latest U.S. Squash poll.
