  • Panthers Compete At Nationals - NESCAC Honors Announced, Illig Is Coach Of The Year

    Senior Sally Hatfield (Barrington, R.I.) and sophomore Virginia Shannon (Hanover, N.H.) represented the Middlebury women at the recent individual nationals hosted by Williams. Hatfield earned a 3-2 record over the weekend, while Shannon went 4-1. Hatfield ends the season with an 18-12 overall record, while Shannon ends '08-'09 with a 17-13 mark.
  • Women's Squash Competes At Nationals

    The Middlebury College women's squash finished the season ranked 13th in the nation after competing in the "B" flight at team nationals at Harvard. The Panthers battled for the Kurtz Cup as the fifth seed, meeting fourth-seeded Bowdoin in the quarterfinals. After suffering a 6-3 loss, the Panthers battled back to defeat George Washington 8-1 on Saturday and Bates 6-3 on Sunday. The 13th-place finish at team nationals is the Middlebury's highest national ranking in the past 10 years. Middlebury also sets a school record (33 years) with 19 wins against just eight losses.

    The Middlebury women's squash team improved on its school record for wins (17-7) with a dominating 9-0 win at St. Lawrence. The Panthers won every match 3-0 as they cruised to the win.
  • Women's Squash Finishes Fourth At NESCACs

    The Middlebury women's squash team ended the weekend in fourth place among 11 teams competing at the NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity. The Panthers earned an impressive 5-4 win over Bates in the quarterfinals, setting a new school record with their 16th win of the season. Middlebury then lost to eventual champion Trinity 9-0 in the semifinals, before ending the weekend with a tight 5-4 loss to Bowdoin.
  • Women's Squash Headed To NESCAC Championship

    The Middlebury women's squash team will compete in the 2009 NESCAC Championship this weekend at Trinity and Wesleyan. The fourth-seeded Panthers have received a bye and will open play on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with a quarterfinal match-up against #5 Bates. COMPLETE BRACKET
  • Women's Squash Earns Wins Over Vassar & UVM

    The Middlebury women's squash team won its third and fourth straight matches as they picked up 9-0 wins over Vassar and UVM at home. The Panthers' 15 wins this season tie a school record set in '99-'00.
  • Women's Squash Wins Three Of Four

    The Panther women's squash team earned a 3-1 mark over the weekend at the Yale Round Robin Tournament. Middlebury defeated Colby 8-1 on Friday, before falling in a tightly-contested 6-3 match with #13 Bowdoin. Junior Liz McMorris (New York, N.Y.) lost just three points the entire weekend at #7, earning a 4-0 mark.
  • Women's Squash Takes A Point From Williams & Dartmouth - Tops Bates & Mt. Holyoke

    The Middlebury women's squash team opened up 2009 with a pair of 8-1 losses at home to Williams and Dartmouth. The Panthers turned it around the next day with 5-4 wins over Bates and Mt. Holyoke at Williams. The Panthers began the season ranked 18th nationally and have now climbed to the 15th spot with some impressive wins.
  • Women's Squash Goes 5-0 At Wesleyan Round Robin

    The Middlebury College women's squash team had an impressive weekend at the Wesleyan Round Robin Tournament last weekend. The Panthers played five matches, earning five 9-0 wins, including a victory over Vassar, who defeated Middlebury 7-2 at the Walker Cup a year ago. The Panthers also earned wins over Wesleyan, Wellesley, William Smith and Smith.
  • Women's Squash Plays Four On The Road

    The Middlebury women's squash team had a busy weekend as they played four different opponents. The Panthers defeated Columbia 8-1 and Haverford 8-1, before falling 9-0 to both Penn. and Princeton.
  • Women's Squash Opens With A Win

    The Middlebury women's squash team opened up its '08-'09 campaign with an 8-1 home win over Hamilton. The Panthers entered the match ranked 18th, while the Continentals were ranked 15th. Middlebury earned seven of their eight wins by 3-0 scores.
