Middlebury College women's soccer junior goalkeepers Ursula Alwang (Weston, Conn.) and Eva Shaw (Park City, Utah) have been selected as the NESCAC Co-Players of the Week. Alwang and Shaw helped lead Middlebury to its fourth NESCAC title with excellent defensive efforts in front of the Panther goal.
Alwang made six saves in a semifinal tie with Amherst and added three stops in the Panthers' championship game win over Williams. She allowed just one goal in exactly 200 minutes of work.
Shaw handled penalty kick duties for the Panthers in the team's shootout against Amherst during the semifinal match. After the Mammoths took a 2-0 lead, Shaw made four stops to help Middlebury earn a 4-3 advantage and advance to the NESCAC Championship match.
Alwang and Shaw along with their teammates return to the field on Saturday when they play an NCAA Tournament First-Round game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Maine-Farmington.
