Womens Lacrosse Handles Bates

4/2/05 - Middlebury jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and coasted to a 13-4 victory over Bates on Kohn Field. The Panthers are ranked second in the latest Division III national poll.

Middlebury's first half shutout ended at the 9:49 mark when Molly Wagner scored for Bates to make it 7-1. The rainy afternoon slowed the scoring, leaving the Panthers with an 8-2 lead at the intermission. Schuyler Winstead and Lindsey Corbin each scored consecutive goals in the second half to seal the 13-4 win.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Winstead and Kim Walker led Middlebury with three goals apiece, while Corbin and Claire Edelen chipped in with two goals each. Alison Perencevich added a goal and two assists in the win. Sarah Peters led the Bobcats with two goals.

Johanna Rosenfield collected three saves in goal for Middlebury, while Liz McNamara made six saves for Bates.
