Middlebury finished second overall among nine teams at the St. Lawrence Invitational to open the fall season. The Panthers return to action next weekend at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational hosted by Wellesley. NYU won the event with a 581, followed by Middlebury (626) and Hamilton (632). Action took place at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.
Sitting in fifth place after 18 holes, Middlebury surged on Sunday, shaving 24 strokes off its team score to earn the second-place finish. Leading the squad with a third-place overall finish was Blake Yaccino, who came in with a 146, including a 71 on the second day. Three strokes back in a tie for seventh was Chloe Levins, who also carded a 71 on Sunday for an overall total of 149. Anna Zumwinkle had a great effort on day two, slicing 14 strokes off her Saturday score to finish with a 160 (87-73), good for a tie for 14th overall. Maddy Cordeiro came in with a 171 (85-86), while Maren O'Shea shot a 188 (98-90) to round out the Middlebury team.
