  • Women’s Basketball Drops Opening NESCAC Game To #4 Amherst

    The Middlebury women’s basketball team dropped its opening conference game of the season, falling by a score of 60-38 at the hands of fourth-ranked Amherst (12-1, 1-0) Friday night in Pepin Gym. The Panthers (10-3, 0-1) return to action tomorrow when they host Hamilton at 3:00 p.m., while the Mammoths will visit Williams with the same start time.

    The Middlebury women’s basketball team used a key 16-3 run to start the fourth quarter, as the Panthers pulled away from visiting Plattsburgh State 65-55 on Tuesday. Middlebury (10-2) opens NESCAC play on Friday, hosting fourth-ranked Amherst at 7:00 p.m., while the Cardinals (4-5) entertain SUNY Geneseo the same day at 5:30 p.m.

    Middlebury dropped a tight road game at the University of New England (9-3) on Saturday, falling by a score of 63-61. The Panthers (9-2) return to action on Tuesday when they host Plattsburgh State in Pepin Gym at 5:30 p.m.

    Middlebury allowed only 16 points over the final three quarters, as the Panthers opened the 2020 portion of their schedule with a 46-27 home victory over St. John Fisher on Thursday.  Middlebury (9-1) returns to the court on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. contest at the University of New England, while the Cardinals (7-3) host Ithaca on January 6 at 6:00 p.m.
  • Big Fourth Quarter Sparks Panthers Past Mt. St. Mary

    Middlebury outscored Mount Saint Mary College 26-7 in the fourth quarter, lifting the Panthers to a 58-47 home triumph over the Knights on Tuesday. Middlebury (8-1) gets quick start to the 2020 portion of the schedule, hosting St. John Fisher on Thursday at 4:00 p.m., while the Mt. St. Mary (6-3) entertains The Sage Colleges the same day at 6:00 p.m.

    Middlebury outscored Sage 31-12 in the fourth quarter, on its way to a 73-54 win over the Gators (2-5) on Tuesday evening in Pepin Gym. The Panthers (6-0) return to action at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Sage visits Westfield on the same day with a noon start.
  • Davis Earns NESCAC Player of the Week Honors

    Middlebury College women’s basketball player Maya Davis (Dedham, Mass.) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Week. The senior forward averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. Davis shot 57.9 percent (11-19) from the floor and 83.3 percent (15-18) from the foul line. She netted 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds against Castleton in an overtime win and added 17 points and nine boards at Cabrini.

    The Middlebury women’s basketball team put together a 7-2 run at the start of Tuesday’s overtime, fending off a couple of Castleton comeback attempts, on its way to a 64-60 win over the Spartans (5-1) in Pepin Gymnasium. The Panthers (4-0) return to action on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. tip at Cabrini, while Castleton entertains Keene State on December 4 at 5:30 p.m.

    Middlebury outscored Skidmore (2-3) 26-16 in the third quarter, on its way to a 74-59 win over the Thoroughbreds on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers (3-0) return to action on Tuesday night when they host Castelton Sate at 7:00 p.m.

    The 2019-20 Middlebury women’s basketball team is eager to begin a new season under the guidance of sixth-year head coach KJ Krasco. Last winter, the Panthers tallied a 20-8 mark that saw the team earn its first NCAA Tournament bid since 1997-98. With a strong nucleus of its roster returning, Middlebury is poised for a successful 2019-20 campaign.
