Middlebury scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a 6-5 win over Union (1-6) on the final game of its spring break trip. The Panthers are scheduled return to action on April 5 when they open NESCAC play with a home game against Williams at 5:00 p.m.
Union scored three in the third and one in the sixth for a 5-2 advantage.
The Panthers plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, making it a one-run game (5-4).
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Emily Moore singled, but was put out on a fielder's choice by Melanie Mandell. One batter later, Tarr singled, moving Mandell to second. Sara Tobias followed, driving in Mandell to tie the game as Tarr advanced to third. Kaylee Gumm won the game in walk-off fashion, driving home Tarr for the 6-5 victory.
Irene Margiotta (4-3) picked up the complete game win in the circle for the Panthers. Tobias went 3-4, while Tarr and Gumm each finished 2-4. Mandell went 1-3 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI.
Makayla Koehler (0-2) took the loss for Union, allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings. Dana Dolinko led the hitters with a 2-4 game.
