  • Panther Softball Recognized by NFCA for Classroom Work
    September 29, 2014
    The Middlebury softball team has been honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as one of the organization’s Top-10 Division III All-Academic Teams for its work in the classroom during the 2013-14 year. With an overall team grade point average of 3.54, the Panthers checked in with the nation’s sixth-best GPA.
  • Morris Earns Fourth-Straight All-NESCAC Nod

    Middlebury College softball pitcher Elizabeth Morris (Kenilworth, Ill.) has been named to the All-NESCAC team for the fourth-consecutive season. The senior lefty was a second-team choice during her rookie season, holding down a first-team spot in each of the last three years.
  • Softball Squad Goes 1-1 - Eliminated From NESCAC Tourney

    Middlebury saw its season come to an end on Saturday in the NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers topped Bowdoin by a 2-0 score in an elimination game in the morning, before falling to Williams, 8-5. Middlebury ends its season with a 19-16 mark.
  • Softball Falls in First Game of NESCAC Tournament

    In the opening game of the 2014 NESCAC Softball Tournament on Friday, Middlebury fell to Tufts by a score of 7-0. The Panthers return to the Williams’ Cole Field on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. game against Bowdoin in an elimination game.
  • Softball Looks for a NESCAC Crown This Weekend at Williams

    Middlebury joins host Williams along with Bowdoin and Tufts as the four teams that will vie for the 2014 NESCAC Softball Championship at Cole Field in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The three-day championship begins with a pair of games on Friday, May 2, and concludes on Sunday, May 4. Action gets underway on Friday with Williams squaring off against Bowdoin at 2:30 p.m. Tufts and Middlebury meet in the day’s second game at 5:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Drops a Pair to Union to End Regular Season

    The Middlebury softball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader in the squad’s final two regular-season games to Union on a windy and wet Tuesday afternoon. The Dutchwomen (21-11) picked up the win in game one by an 8-6 tally, and were victorious during the nightcap by a 4-3 score in a game shortened to six innings due to darkness. The Panthers (18-14) will square off with Tufts on Friday evening in the NESCAC Tournament at 5:00 p.m.
  • Softball Splits With Williams - Earns NESCAC Tourney Bid

    The Middlebury softball team split a pair of games at Williams on Saturday afternoon, dropping game one 5-4 before thumping the Ephs 12-2 in a five-inning second game. Unfortunately for the Panthers, Williams takes the series 2-1 and has earned the right to host next weekend’s NESCAC Tournament. Middlebury has secured the second seed in the west and will also taking part in the double-elimination tourney beginning on Friday.
  • Middlebury Drops Game One of Key NESCAC West Series at Williams

    Williams took advantage of some first-inning miscues from Middlebury on Friday, as the Ephs opened the key three-game series for the NESCAC West Division title with a 4-3 win at Cole Field. The teams started game two, but it was suspended after three innings with Williams leading 3-2. They are scheduled to resume the game at noon Saturday and play the third immediately following.
  • Softball Splits At Plymouth State

    Middlebury took game one 6-5 before falling in the nightcap 8-3 in a pair of games played at Plymouth State on Tuesday afternoon at D&M Park. The Panthers of Middlebury move to 17-10 for the year, while their opponents own a 17-11 mark. Middlebury plays a NESCAC series Friday and Saturday at Williams with hosting rights on the line for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.
  • Softball Splits With Hamilton - Morris Eclipses 300 Strike-Outs
    April 19, 2014
    Middlebury and Hamilton split a NESCAC West doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, with the Panthers (16-9, 7-2) taking game one 1-0, before the Continentals (8-18, 2-7) returned the favor by the same score in the nightcap. Middlebury will play at Plymouth State on Tuesday before heading to Williams for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. The winner of that series will clinch the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and will host the event May 2-4.
  • Softball Wins Series-Opener Against Hamilton
    April 18, 2014
    Elizabeth Morris led Middlebury to a 2-0 win over Hamilton, tossing a complete game shut-out over the Continentals.  With the victory, the Panthers improve to 6-1 in the NESCAC West and 15-8 overall, while Hamilton stands at 7-17 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The teams will play a double-header tomorrow at noon, wrapping up their three-game series.

    The Union @ Middlebury softball doubleheader originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 8 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 29th. First pitch of the non-conference twinbill will take place at 4:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Splits Pair of Games with Keene State
    April 13, 2014
    The Middlebury softball team split a pair of games on a windy Sunday afternoon, topping Keene State (10-10) 7-4 before falling in the second game, 7-6. The Panthers (14-8) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end and will return to action on Wednesday with a pair of games at Skidmore.
  • Softball Takes Two, Sweeps Series With Wesleyan

    In a double-header, Middlebury posted similar 4-3 wins over visiting Wesleyan. The hosts needed extra innings, 10 and eight, respectively, helping the Panthers take two games and sweep a key three-game NESCAC West series against the Cardinals. The Panthers improve to 13-7 overall and 5-1 in NESCAC West play. Middlebury makes a quick turn-around, hosting a twin-bill against Keene State on Sunday, while Wesleyan travels to Eastern Conn. on Wednesday for a pair.
  • Softball Defeats Wesleyan 6-2 In Game One
    April 11, 2014
    Middlebury took game one of a three-game NESCAC West series with Wesleyan, topping the Cardinals (9-11, 2-4) by a score of 6-2 on Friday. The two teams go at it against on Saturday, with the Panthers (11-7, 3-1) hosting a pair of contests beginning at noon.
  • Softball Wins Two Games In Home-Opener Capped By Kim's Walk-Off Homer

    Middlebury took two games from visiting Castleton, capping the sweep in dramatic fashion as rookie Hye-Jin Kim launched a 3-2 pitch to straight away centerfield with two outs for a two-run homer in the nightcap. Including the 3-1 win in the opener, the Panthers improve to 10-7 overall and host Wesleyan on Friday for game one of a pivotal three-game NESCAC West series.

  • Softball Splits With Amherst, Takes Series, 2-1

    The Middlebury softball team split a doubleheader at Amherst (12-4, 3-2) on Saturday, taking game on 4-1 before falling by a 6-1 score in the nightcap. Including the 1-0 win on Friday, Middlebury took 2-3 games to win the series. The Panthers (8-7, 2-1) are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when Union comes to town for a pair.
  • Morris Tosses No-Hitter To Lead Softball Past Amherst

    Elizabeth Morris threw a no-hitter to lead Middlebury to a 1-0 win at Amherst (11-3, 2-1) in game one of a NESCAC West series in Massachusetts. Locked in a pitchers’ duel with Jeff starter Jackie Buechler, Morris allowed just two base runners, retiring 14-consecutive batters after issuing a lead-off walk in the bottom of the first.

  • Softball Drops A Pair To Finish 6-6 in Florida

    The Middlebury softball team dropped its final two games Friday during its spring break trip to Clermont, Florida. The Panthers fell in the day’s opening game to the University of Chicago by a 9-2 score, and dropped a narrow 3-2 game to Lawrence in games held at the National Training Center.
  • Morris and Stearns Lead Softball to Split Down in Florida

    Behind a solid pitching performance from Elizabeth Morris and Neve Stearns in game one, the Middlebury softball team earned a split Thursday during its annual spring break trip to Clermont, Florida. The duo pitched the Panthers to a 4-0 win over Colby in game one, but Middlebury dropped the second game by an 8-1 score to seventh-ranked Luther.
  • Softball Earns Split Against RIT, Elmhurst

    The Middlebury softball team split a pair of games Wednesday during its annual spring break trip to Clermont, Florida. The Panthers began the day with a 14-3 win in five innings against RIT in windy conditions, but dropped the second game by a 4-3 score to Elmhurst. Middlebury moves to 5-3 overall, and will play a pair of games Thursday against Colby and Luther.
  • Softball Posts 2-0 Day During Spring Trip

    The Middlebury softball team notched a pair of victories Monday during its spring break trip to Clermont, Florida. The Panthers hung on for an 11-7 victory over Lawrence (Wis.) in the morning, and scored all their runs in the latter innings of an 8-1 win against St. Catherine’s. Following a day off Tuesday, Middlebury returns to the field Wednesday morning with games against R.I.T. and Elmhurst.
  • Softball Splits First Four Games In Florida

    The Middlebury softball team is 2-2 after its first four games during the squad’s annual spring break trip to Clermont, Florida. The Panthers opened their season on Saturday, March 22nd with a 14-3 loss to Wellesley. The Blue struck for seven runs in the first and fourth innings on their way to the victory.
  • 2014 Softball Preview

    The Middlebury College softball team enters the ’14 campaign after earning the second-most wins in school history a year ago with a 26-11 mark. The Panthers advanced to the NESCAC Tournament for the third-straight year before seeing their season come to an end. Middlebury finished the season third in the NESCAC in hitting (.319), pitching (2.38 ERA) and fielding percentage (.961).
  • Softball Coach To Offer Camp In Boston Area

    Middlebury College softball coach Kelly Bevere will offer a camp from July 28-30, 2014 at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. The Northeast Collegiate Softball Academy (NECSA) is a unique three-day camp for high school varsity athletes who want to compete in college for high academic schools like those in the NESCAC. Other NESCAC coaches, along with staff from Babson, MIT and Wellesley amongst others, will be on staff for the camp. CLICK HERE for the link to the camp.
