  • Margel Earns NESCAC Honors For Second-Straight Year

    Middlebury College softball player Megan Margel (Ridgewood, N.J.) has earned second-team All-NESCAC honors for the second-consecutive season. The sophomore had another impressive season for the 17-15 Panthers, starting all 32 games this spring. Margel led the team with a .398 average and now owns a career average of .378. She paced the team with 39 hits, while also lacing six doubles and 15 RBI. She owned a .443 on-base percentage, while fielding at a .990 clip at first base. Margel had a dozen multiple-hit games this season, including three hits vs. Hamilton and Carleton.
  • Softball Ends Season With Sweep At Lyndon - Records Set

    Middlebury closed out its 2009 season with a pair of shutout victories over at Lyndon State College. The Panthers won the opener 9-0 in five innings, while taking the nightcap 7-0. Middlebury ends its season with a 17-15 overall record
  • Softball Takes One Of Two Against Plymouth State

    Middlebury dropped the opener to Plymouth State 6-2, but took the back-end of the twin bill 5-1 on Thursday. The two games were the final home games for Middlebury (15-15) as they wrap-up their season with a two-game series at Lyndon State on Friday.
  • Softball Splits A Pair Versus Rensselaer

    Middlebury took the opening game 1-0 on a seventh inning, two-out walk-off hit against Rensselaer, and dropped the second game to the Red Hawks 7-4 on Wednesday. The Panthers (14-14) return to action on Thursday for their final two home games against Plymouth State before wrapping up their season on the road with a twin bill against Lyndon State on Friday.
  • Softball Splits With Amherst

    Middlebury won the opening game against Amherst 12-8 and fell in the night cap 3-1. The twin bill completed NESCAC West action for the Panthers (13-13, 5-7) as they continue their season with six non-league games next week. With the split, the Jeffs are now 17-6 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
  • Softball Falls To Amherst In Game One

    Amherst pounded out 18 hits en route to a 16-1, five inning win over Middlebury in the first game of a pivotal three-game NESCAC West series on Friday. The victory pushed the Jeffs (16-5, 4-2) into sole possession of second place in the West Division, while the Panthers fall to 12-12 overall and 4-6 in conference action. The teams return on Saturday for a double-header starting at noon.
  • Softball Drops Two At Union
    April 15, 2009
    Ginni Sack and Tiffany Ippoliti pitched back-to-back shutouts as the Union softball team swept Middlebury, 6-0 and 8-0 at Alexander Field Wednesday afternoon. The Dutchwomen, who were idle since April 4, opened a stretch of 10 games in seven days and improved to 14-2 while the Panthers fell to 12-11.
  • Burbridge Earns Player Of The Week Honors

    Middlebury College softball player Emily Burbridge (Greenwich, R.I.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The sophomore Burbridge batted .583 (7-for-12) with a .833 slugging mark during a three-game sweep of Hamilton over the weekend. Burbridge hit three doubles, drove in seven runs and scored four.

    The top four hitters in the Middlebury College lineup collected 17 hits as the visiting Panthers swept a New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division softball doubleheader against Hamilton College at Ferguson Fields on April 11.

    Middlebury broke open a close game with four runs in the fifth inning and the visiting Panthers went on to post a 6-3 win against Hamilton College in a NESCAC West Division softball game at Ferguson Fields on Friday.

    The Middlebury/Rensselaer softball doubleheader scheduled from Tuesday, April 7th has been rescheduled. The games will be made up on Wednesday, April 22nd at 3:00 p.m.
  • Softball Drops Game Three At Wesleyan

    Middlebury saw Wesleyan complete a three-game sweep as the Panthers fell 8-2 in Connecticut in the final game of a three-game series. Cardinal pitcher Anu Rimal made the most of her first pitching appearance of the season by throwing a five-hit, complete-game victory. Rimal, who started five games in 2008 with one complete game, did not allow an earned run in posting her first career victory. She yielded five hits and struck out seven.
  • Softball Drops Two At Wesleyan

    Middlebury dropped a pair of NESCAC West games on Saturday as the Panthers fell 4-0 and 4-3 at Wesleyan. The two teams will meet in the third and final game of the series on Sunday. Wesleyan was led in game one by a four-hit shutout from Meaghan Dendy, who also homered, as did Molly O'Connell in the first inning.

    The Middlebury @ Wesleyan softball series has been moved from Friday/Saturday to Saturday/Sunday. The Panthers will play games at 3:00 and 5:00 on Saturday, before playing a single game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
  • Softball Takes Two From Castleton

    The Middlebury softball team swept its second doubleheader in as many days as the Panthers took two from Castleton, 7-1 and 9-7. Middlebury plated four runs in the top of the first inning, added one more in the fourth and two in the sixth to give starting pitcher Ali McAnaney plenty of run support in the complete-game win. McAnaney allowed just one unearned run on six hits and one walk, while striking out three in the win.
  • Softball Takes Pair From Skidmore In Home-Opener

    Middlebury picked up a pair of non-league wins over visiting Skidmore on Tuesday, beating the Thoroughbreds 3-1 in game one and 7-6 in eight innings in the night cap. The Panthers improve to 7-6 overall with the sweep, while Skidmore evens their record at 7-7 for the season. Middlebury now holds a 14-4 lead in the series, winning the last 12 in a row.
