Barton was named an assistant nordic skiing coach in the summer of 2016 and enters her fourth year in 2019-20. A 2009 graduate of the College, she came to Middlebury from the Burke Mountain Academy, where she had served as the head nordic coach since 2012.

During her Panther career on the trails, Barton and her teammates posted four top-eight finishes at the NCAA Championships, including a fifth-place effort during the 2008 event in Bozeman, Montana. She was a captain during her senior year, leading Middlebury to an eighth-place showing at the NCAA event hosted by Bates. Barton was also a four-year member of the women’s lacrosse team, which claimed the 2006 and 2007 NESCAC Championships. She played in four NCAA Tournaments with a pair of those teams making national semifinal appearances.

A native of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Barton was an assistant coach at Burke Mountain Academy in 2011 prior to moving up to the head coaching position the following year. She was the head coach at Jackson Hole High School in Jackson, Wyoming, in 2010, as well as a sailing instructor at SailMaine in Portland, Maine from 2004-09.

Barton was a three-time coach for the United States U18 National Team in Norway, Estonia and Sweden. In 2015, she traveled to Almaty, Kazakhstan as the head coach of the USA U23 National Team. Barton is a three-time coach for Team New England at U.S. Junior Nationals and has worked for two years at the U.S. National U16 Summer Camp. She also leads summer training camps to Sweden and Norway, and was recently named the 2016 New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) Coach of the Year.
