  • Laukli Nominated to 2020-21 Davis U.S. Cross Country Ski Team

    Middlebury nordic skier Sophia Laukli (Yarmouth, Maine) has been nominated for a spot on the 2020-21 Davis U.S. Cross Country Ski Team. Athletes nominated to the team are scheduled to open the season in with their first training camp in Park City, Utah (pending COVID-19 considerations). 
  • USCSCA Honors Panther Nordic Skiers for Classroom Work

    The Middlebury nordic ski team was honored for its work in the classroom when the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) announced the members of the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team. A total of six Panthers were recognized for their grade point average (GPA).
  • Three Nordic Skiers Named All-Americans

    Three members of the Middlebury nordic ski team earned All-American honors at the recently-held NCAA Championships. The event was shortened to just two days, with the nordic team competing in the freestyle races on day two at the Crosscut Mountain Sports Center in Bozeman, Montana.

  • Women's Nordic Wins 5K - Three Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury ski team is currently in third place after two days of racing at the NCAA Skiing Championships in Bozeman, Montana. Today was the first nordic action of the week, as the Middlebury women won the 5K freestyle event.
  • Laukli & Lawson Compete at FIS Junior/U23 World Ski Championships

    Two members of the Middlebury nordic team represented the United States of America on the national stage this week. Rookie Sophia Laukli (Yarmouth, Maine) and junior Alexandra Lawson (West Burke, Vt.) competed at the 2020 FIS Junior & U23 World Ski Championships. Laukli was in the junior division for her events, while Lawson was in the U23 division. The competition took place February 28-March 8 in Oberwiesenthal, Germany. 
  • Ski Teams Headed To NCAA Championships

    Middlebury will send nearly a full squad of 11 racers to the NCAA Skiing Championships to be held March 11-14 at Bridger Bowl and Crosscut Mountain Sports Center in Bozeman, Montana.
  • Laulki Sweeps EISA Honors - Three Other Panthers Recognized

    Members of the Middlebury nordic ski teams took home several honors when the EISA announced its post-season awards. First-year racer Sophia Laukli (Yarmouth, Maine) took home the Bib Leader crown in both the classic and freestyle events, was named the EISA Rookie of the Year and earned First-Team All-East honors.

    The Panther ski team sits in third place after one day of action at the 97th Middlebury College Winter Carnival. Tim Gavett and Ali Nullmeyer both took home slalom titles at the Snow Bowl to lead the second-place alpine efforts.
  • Ski Teams Set to Host Winter Carnival

    Middlebury College will host its 97th annual winter carnival on Friday-Saturday, February 28-29. Nordic events will be contested at the Rikert Nordic Center, while the alpine events will be held at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. 
  • Ski Team Wins Second-Straight Carnival

    The Middlebury ski team won its second-straight carnival on Saturday, taking home the crown at Williams. The Panthers finished with 855 points, followed by Vermont (843) and Dartmouth (752). Justin Alkier picked up a win in the slalom event, while the women's nordic team won today's relay race. Nordic competition was held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, N.Y., while the alpine events took place at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Mass. Middlebury is off next weekend, before hosting its own carnival on February 28-29.
  • Ski Team Leads After First Day at Williams Carnival

    The Middlebury ski team holds the lead after one day of racing at the Williams Carnival. The men’s alpine and women’s nordic team were both victorious in their respective events on Friday, while Tim Gavett and Erik Arviddson shared the GS title.  Nordic races are being held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, N.Y., while the alpine events took place at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Mass.
  • Wolter Named EISA Skier of the Week

    Middlebury’s Peter Wolter (Hailey, Idaho) has been named the EISA Nordic Skier of the Week. The junior placed fourth in Friday's 20k classic and battled for the win in Saturday's 10k free, finishing as the runner up for his fifth podium of the season.
  • Lawson & Alkier Wins Lead Ski Team To Carnival Victory

    Middlebury picked up a big carnival win on Saturday, edging the University of Vermont by just two points (850-848) to take home the title. Justin Alkier picked up a win victory on the alpine side, as did Alexandra Lawson for the nordic team.

    Middlebury is in second place after one day of racing at the Bates Carnival. Sophia Laukli earned another victory for the nordic women to highlight day one. Alpine racing are being held at Sunday River, while the Nordic athletes are competing at Black Mountain. Action continues on Saturday with the freestyle and giants slalom events.
  • Laukli Honored With EISA Nordic Skier of the Week Laurels

    Middlebury nordic skier Sophia Laukli (Yarmouth, Maine) has been named the EISA Nordic Skier of the Week. The first-year racer won Friday's 5k skate by 10 seconds and took her second win of the weekend in Saturday's 10k classic by 28 seconds. She has now won three-consecutive races, as has her team.

    The Panther ski teams had another solid day at the Colby Carnival on Saturday afternoon, finishing third overall with 827 points. Just four points ahead was Dartmouth in second, while Vermont won the event with 899 points.

    Middlebury nordic skier Alexandra Lawson (West Burke, Vt.) has been named the EISA Nordic Skier of the Week. The junior made the most of another trip to her home trails at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center at the Vermont Carnival last weekend.

    The Panther ski teams finished second among 15 scoring teams at the University of Vermont Carnival. The hosts won the event with 903 points, followed by the Panthers (875), Dartmouth (833) and UNH (643). Middlebury individuals won three of the four events on Saturday, with a second-place finish in the fourth race.

  • Ski Teams Finish Second At Harvard Carnival

    The Middlebury ski teams finished second overall at the opening carnival of the season hosted by Harvard. Vermont won the event with 867 points, followed by Middlebury (863) and Dartmouth (839). Alpine races took place at the Waterville Valley Resort in Waterville, N.H., while nordic races were contested in Vermont at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. The Panthers return to action next weekend at the University of Vermont Carnival.

    The Middlebury ski teams kicked off the 2020 carnival season by taking part in Harvard Carnival. The Panthers were dominant on day one, with team wins by the alpine men and women as well as the nordic women.
