The Middlebury ski teams were honored for their hard work in the classroom when the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) announced the members of the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski team. A total of nine Panthers were honored for their grade point average.
The National Collegiate All-Academic Ski team recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and participate at one of three NCAA Regional Championships. Earning the individual award on the alpine team were seniors Caroline Bartlett and Angie Duke, along with sophomores Justin Alkier, Erik Arvidsson, Lucia Bailey and Madison Lord. Also being recognized was rookie Samantha McClellan.
Last winter, the Panthers finished in 10th place during the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Vermont. During the giant slalom race, Alkier finished ninth overall to earn All-American honors. The Panthers won the Middlebury Carnival, earning the program its initial carnival victory since the 2008 Vermont Carnival. The teams earned third-place finishes at each of the remaining carnivals throughout the 2019 season.
