Middlebury skiers Lewis Nottonson (Acton, Mass.) and Justin Alkier (Toronto, Ont.) recently earned All-American honors at the NCAA Skiing Championships. The races were hosted by the University of Vermont from March 6-9 at the Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe Mountain Resort.
Nottonson finished 10th overall in the men's 20K classical race. The senior crossed the line with a time of 56:56 overall to earn the honor. Nottonson previously earned a spot on the All-East second team, after ranking eighth overall this winter. He finished in the top five in four of the last five events of the carnival season, while earning a season-best third-place finish in both the 20K classic at UNH and the 15K classic at Middlebury.
Alkier finished ninth overall in the giant slalom race to earn All-American honors. The sophomore earned a two-run time of 1:58.42 overall. Alkier is an All-East racer who held down the 11th spot in the eastern rankings, coming on strong at the end of the season. He finished the year with four top-10 finishes, including a second-place effort during a GS qualifying race at Dartmouth. The previous day, Alkier claimed fifth in the same event at his own carnival.
