The Middlebury nordic teams returned to action at the St. Michael's Carnival on Saturday afternoon at the Sleepy Hollow Ski Center. The Panthers were solid once again, as both the men and women placed third overall on day one. Middlebury returns to competition on Sunday with day two of the carnival.
Pacing the Panther women was Cate Brams, who turned in a career-best second-place finish in the 5K classic, covering the course in 13:05. Katie Feldman placed sixth for the second-straight week in the event, this time coming in with a time of 13:46. Rounding out the team's scorers was Sophia Hodges, who earned the top finish of her Middlebury career in 23rd place, covering the course in 14:20.
On the men's side, Evan Weinman turned in his best individual career finish, placing fifth overall in the 10K classic with a time of 24:58. Two spots back was rookie Peter Wolter, who placed seventh overall for the second week in a row in the 10K, this time crossing the line in 24:59. Adam Luban finished the race in 20th place, earning a time of 25:52.
